With Debbi Gaspar's unexpected passing earlier this year, the librarians are determined to honor her years of service and impact on the Moravian community with the creation of the Debra Gaspar Reading Nook. Gifts may be made online, or by check made payable to Moravian College and sent to the Department of Development & Alumni Engagement (please note Debra Gaspar Reading Nook on the memo line). Grant funding from the Keystone Bank Foundation gave Reeves Library monies to build two modular glass study rooms. When the library reopens you will find these in the northeast corner of the main floor.

In collaboration with the TLC, Pam Johnson facilitated a lunch & learn session on "Digital Resources Brainstorming: A Faculty Perspective" on February 20th. The faculty panel included: David Wilkenfeld, Asst. Professor of Athletic Training, via video, Kate Brandes, Adjunct Professor, Earth Sciences, Dr. Louise Keegan, Program Director, Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Dr. Carol Moeller, Director of Research and Education in Diversity, Education and Inclusion and Associate Professor of Philosophy. The panelists shared their experiences working with digital tools and resources, their successes working with students using the tools, and learning outcomes enhanced by digital tools. An exciting variety of digital tools stimulated discussion about current and future collaborations between the library and faculty.
Elizabeth Young Miller (Seminary Liaison Librarian) participated in a panel presentation at ALA Midwinter highlighting a new ATLA open access book: Information Literacy and Theological Librarianship: Theory & Praxis. Her chapter focuses on curriculum mapping of the Moravian Seminary's MATS program to the ACRL's Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. Letters from the POTUS Which former U.S. President was the most eloquent and who had the nicest handwriting? This coming President’s Day, decide for yourself as Reeves Library of Moravian College unboxes a sampling of presidential letters from its Archives & Special Collections for this brief, one-week, mini-exhibit, Letters from the POTUS. This exhibit will feature a sampling of letters written and signed by many of your favorite former Presidents of the United States ranging from George Washington and Abraham Lincoln to Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Due to the age and light sensitivity of these materials, this exhibit will only be on display from Monday, February 17 until Sunday, February 23, 2020, so be sure to catch this while it lasts.
The "Remembering Debra Gaspar" group (click below) is devoted to Debbi's memory. Debbi was a longtime employee of Reeves Library, a beloved colleague and friend, who passed away on January 25, 2020. Faculty, staff, students and friends are welcome to join this group and share their thoughts and images about Debbi. Laugh with the angels, Debbi; you will be greatly missed!

Dr. Sabrina Terrizzi's Economics of Healthcare (ECON 211) classes presented their group posters today in the AfterWords Cafe. ECON 211 focuses on health policy including topics such as the value of health from an individual and societal perspective, demand for physicians, the supply of health care and more. This research project asked the students to propose a solution to one market failure. And to answer two questions: how will this solution decrease cost and improve health. Students and other attendees engaged in the presentations by asking questions and critiquing the posters.
