"Thanksgiving is only 3 days away! What dish are you most looking forward to? My all-time favorite is broccoli casserole."
Greens seem to get all the health-food love but don’t be fooled. Eating our way through the rainbow is incredibly important because every color offers different nutrients to your body! Take orange fruits and veggies, for example. These foods are bursting with carotenoids a bold pigment that multitasks to protect your health! These carotenoids battle free radicals in the body and assist with inflammation, help protect against heart disease and stroke by preventing buildup of fatty plaques, and protect the eyes from harmful UV rays! So load up on that perfect fall color! You’ll do your body good! Reference: https://loom.ly/1Tn64T8
Potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams it’s all so confusing! But sweet potatoes are only remotely related to potatoes. Yes, they are both tuberous roots, but the sweet potato is a very distinctive looking tuber that is long and tapered with a smooth skin that can range in color (yellow, orange, red, brown, beige, or even purple). So, if not a potato, then how did they get their name? It turns out sweet potatoes are not merely potatoes that happen to be sweet. They are actually... a root of a vine in the morning glory familythe roots that Christopher Columbus brought back to Spain in 1493 were called "batatas" by the Indians who lived in the Greater Antilles Islands. In Spain, they called them "patatas." The Spanish introduced them to the English by serving a sweet potato pie to King Henry VIII, who was so grateful he took it back to England, where they mangled the name to "potatoes." The "sweet" wasn't added for 200 more years when Irish immigrants started arriving in Boston with white potatoes. Reference: Food Network https://loom.ly/WF8nT-E See more
Butter has gotten a bad rap in the past, but luckily research is proving that butter is not bad! It contains some very important nutrients, especially if you’re eating butter made from pastured cows! *Vitamin A needed for optimal skin health, immune function, and healthy vision. *Vitamin E a heart-healthy vitamin and acts as an antioxidant that can help battle free radical damage to cells. *It also provides trace amount of other nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, ribof...lavin a and niacin. So, Bring Back The Butter and enjoy every bite! Resource: https://loom.ly/vT1FceQ

If you had to pick one ScArY FoOd to dress up as for Halloween, what would food would you be?
Wondering what to do with mounds of Halloween candy that won’t leave your family sick and tired (or throwing tantrums)? Buybacks are an excellent way to support local businesses, especially dentists. The goal of a Candy Buyback is to redirect the excess candy away from kids in exchange for a treat or prize or even cash. The excess candy is then sent as a treat for different groups, like homeless shelters or our troops down range. Google your town name + Halloween candy buyback to see who is participating near you.
