Taking a time out to check in with ourselves can help bring more awareness to our emotional and physical needs. Mindful check-ins help us identify the emotions we are feeling in the present moment. We are so often distracted by the busyness of the day and just going through the motions. Our body is always sending us signals; whether that be get something to eat, take a nap, relax, etc. Mindfully checking in allows us to be more in tune to what our body is signaling. Here is a good way to get started: What sensations in my body do I feel? What emotions am I feeling right now? What thoughts am I thinking right now? Consider asking what is needed in the moment? #revivewellnesstherapy #selfawareness #mindfulness #nutrition #intuitiveeating

It’s easy to get caught up in the hectic pace of everyday life with all of the responsibilities we all have to manage each day. But do not forget to slow down and take a moment to focus on the here and now. Meditation and mindfulness practices can help to bring balance into your life and allow you to be more fully present. Take time to focus on your breath and clear your mind, even if you only have a minute to spare. You won’t regret it. #mentalhealth #therapy #psychology #loveyourself #revivewellnesstherapy

Journaling is a helpful way to manage thoughts that may feel overwhelming. Since we can only write one thing at a time, it compels us to slow down and bring an awareness to what is typically an automatic response. This reflection allows us space to potentially choose a new direction, reflect on our feelings, get some emotional distance from a stressor, or insert some self compassion. Get to know your anxiety. Name it to tame it. #anxietytreatment #depressiontreatment #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #conshohocken #therapyquotes #ocdtreatment #ptsdtreatment #anxiety #worry #journalprompts #wellness #emotionalwellness #selfcare #rennievolpelpc

Sometimes we let things build up inside without ever realizing. Frustration and resentment may even build to a point where our partner starts to take notice. But if we do not invite our partner into our inner world, how are they to know that we are not feeling heard? If we push ourselves to speak about our thoughts and feelings proactively, we can nip these nasty patterns in the bud before they ever truly take hold. Don’t be afraid to check in frequently to speak about your wants, needs, and dreams with your partner and always look to ask about theirs as well. #mentalhealth #therapy #psychology #loveyourself #revivewellnesstherapy

A need to please is a need to belong. And the need to belong is crucial to our survival. It makes sense that we would fall into people pleasing tendencies from time to time, however this often comes at the expense of our own energy and then can build resentment in our relationships. Remember that you have needs and boundaries, too, and they are just as important as everyone else's. What are some needs that you have that often go unmet? What stops you from telling others, 'no'? What did you learn in childhood about expressing your needs to someone else? #boundaries #anxietytreatment #depressiontreatment #attachment #trauma #counselingquotes #therapyquotes #wellness #mentalhealthquotes #mentalhealthmatters #conshohocken

Why is this the amount of calories we so commonly hear is enough for adults? We are often encouraged and even feel pressure to under-fuel ourselves which is accompanied with so many negative side effects including slowing down the metabolism, decreased mood, increased anxiety, and overeating. 1200 calories is not sustainable or enough energy for everyone. Counting calories can also lead to food preoccupation, increased stress and anxiety, and overeating. Stop counting and nourish your body. Taking care of ourselves and eating what our body needs may contribute to a more positive mood, greater ability to manage stress, the body functioning at optimal levels, decreased food preoccupation, etc. This sounds a lot better to me #Revivewellnesstherapy #registereddietitian #nutrition #foodisfuel

Amanda Gorman’s poem The Hill We Climb reminds us of an essential truth. We can’t control everything that happens in our lives, but we can work on how we respond to what is happening. We can focus on who we want to be, by putting our efforts on moving towards what matters to us. Even in the midst of very challenging circumstances we can choose as best we are able to live according to our values. #hope #growth #ACT... #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy #psychologicalflexibility #amandagorman See more

Traumatic events can be incredibly difficult to talk about, and finding someone who understands that experience can feel like you've been given a life raft after being cast out to sea. But just because someone has shared in that trauma does not mean that you two are compatible or able to be in a healthy relationship together. It may be necessary to move on from the relationship if it is doing more harm than good, as scary as that may be. A compatible and loving partner will accept you for who you are and whatever you have been through. #mentalhealth #therapy #psychology #loveyourself #revivewellnesstherapy

We live in a society where many foods are demonized. We often think we need to eat less and limit or even cut out certain foods. When do we talk about why we need food and what it does for our body? Food is our fuel. Nutrients found in food have the power to promote good health. Creating a more positive connection with food can help us to eat balanced and what our body needs without it consuming our mind. Before eating a meal, think about what all of the nutrients that are present can do for your body and bring more awareness to the positive benefits food has to offer. #Revivewellnesstherapy #Nutrition #Registereddietitian #allfoodsfit

Failure and struggle help us to grow, but we must be sure to show ourselves love along the way, just as we would to those we care for. Remember to be patient with yourself if you aren’t immediately sure of how to handle a situation, especially during these increasingly difficult times. Do your best to acknowledge what cannot be controlled and remain adaptable. You are strong enough to overcome whatever obstacles you may face, even if it doesn’t feel like it. #mentalhealth #therapy #psychology #loveyourself #revivewellnesstherapy

Feeling a sense of control over our environment is an adaptable trait: It helps us stay motivated, meet our goals, feel like we matter, and that we can stay safe. At some point, our desire for control results in spinning our wheels, because complete control or certainty is unattainable. We can, instead, allow things to be, even if they are imperfect. What could you gain in life from detaching from the idea of controlling it? In your job? In your relationships? #therapyquotes #counseling #anxiety #conshohocken #depression #mentalhealth #wellness #emotionalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #selfcare #certaintyseeking #ocdtreatment #bfrbtreatment #rennievolpelpc

Take account of all of the parts of your relationship that feel special to you. Maybe you and your partner have nicknames for one another or you both make sure to brush your teeth together every night. There could be some aspects that seem normal, and others that your friends or family might tease you about. Regardless, take pride in all the things that make your relationship yours. #mentalhealth #therapy #psychology #loveyourself #revivewellnesstherapy

With all of the holiday meals, the idea of dieting or "getting back on track" comes up a lot. What if this year we try something different? What if we try to just keep eating normally or what feels good for you at this time? Limiting or restricting foods will not lead anywhere positive and could possibly be a recipe for a binge. Diets do not work. Any weight that is lost is not sustainable and we typically are not feeling the happiest when dieting. The holidays can be extremely stressful (especially during a pandemic), why add more stress to our body and lifestyle? If you are treating your body with care, then your body will take care of you! #ReviveWellnessTherapy #RegisteredDietitian #AllFoodsFit #Nutrition

A cold snowy snowy day tends to make us want warm, comforting foods. If you are having this thought today (or anyday for that matter) LISTEN TO IT! There are so many external sources that impact our food choices throughout the day, when the most important factor should be what our body is telling us it wants. Giving yourself the permission to seek pleasure in your food is healthy. Satisfaction is the driving force in Intuitive Eating. Gentle nutrition, the final principle of ...intuitive eating, encourages us to make food choices that not only honor our health, but also by what tastes good and feels good. Snuggling up on the couch with a glass of hot chocolate on a cold winter day sounds like a healthy choice and maybe if you would like, throw a cookie in there too! #Revivewellnesstherapy #registereddietitian #intuitiveeating #allfoodsfit #gentle nutrition

Many of us were trained to meet our emotional distress with either avoidance or anger. The theory being that if we ignore or punish our problems, then they’ll go away. But most often what happens with this approach is that our problems just grow more problems. If, however, we could meet our pain with friendliness, imagine what could happen. Putting down the arms we’ve taken up against our own hearts, we might know a deeper peace within ourselves. #compassion #selfcompassion ...#compassionfocusedtherapy #peace #peacemaking #kindness See more

As the days get shorter and the weather gets colder it is important to remember to treat yourself with love and compassion. Oftentimes we find it easy to beat ourselves up over mistakes or regrets, but we must not forget to praise and reward ourselves for our successes as well. And in these unfamiliar times where we find ourselves in the middle of a pandemic, small victories should not go unnoticed. Make sure you are taking the time to nurture your mental and emotional well-being and do all that you can to create a culture of appreciation for yourself and the people in your life that mean the most to you. #mentalhealth #therapy #psychology #loveyourself #revivewellnesstherapy

Recently we have been looking at The Sound Relationship House, a framework developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman to help couples understand all of the pieces of a relationship that need to be maintained for the greatest chance of long-term success. The final two levels of the house are related to how couples move forward in their lives together. Couples need to Make Life Dreams Come True and Create Shared Meaning together. We have discussed the concept of Creating Shared M...eaning before, but the basic concept is that couples should look to share a sense of purpose that they have built together. Whether you are looking to raise a family, build a business, or travel the world, it is important to work in tandem towards a shared goal with your partner as you move through life together. While it is important to have shared meaning in the relationship, couples should also work to honor each other’s individual life dreams. Speaking about your dreams with your partner allows you to connect with them on a deeper level and open new lines of dialogue. Discussing dreams with your partner allows you both to find ways to make each other’s dreams come true and solidify the love and commitment you worked to create in the relationship.

One of the rules of Improv acting is that you agree to take up the scenario offered to you by your fellow actors, make it your own, and then hand it off to the next person on the stage, who will put their own stamp on it. It’s called Yes...And and it allows for creative and spontaneous interchanges to occur. This principle of the theater can also help us live more flexibly in our lives. Remaining open to the possibilities of adaptation helps us continue to grow, remain resi...lient, and remember that we can allow space for the different parts, feelings, and experiences in our lives in order to work best with what we’ve got. #flexibility #ACT #acceptanceandcommitmentherapy #improv #holdingspace #evolution #growth #adaptability #creativity #resilience #spontaneity #mentalhealth #pandemic

Our minds look for patterns in our lives. If we couldn’t do this, everything would be constantly brand new to us and without any mental maps we’d be unable to navigate this complex world. The problem is, sometimes this pattern-seeking mind creates problems for ourselves and others. It contributes to missing new information and being unable to step outside of our comfort zone into new growth. The antidote to this is developing curiosity: being able to perceive what’s new, even... in what’s familiar. We live by our patterns, and we also live by being willing to re-make them. #ACT #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy #mindfulness #curiosity #themapisnottheterritory #change #transformation #willingness #openmindedness #growth
