Ritzert Homestead Farm

Dale Ritzert, at the very end you will see a wooden box on top of nesting boxes. It is what remains of the dog carrier your Dad handmade back in the mid 1960s for Grandma Della to be able to bring Tootsie back to the Farm on an airplane from California. It has been used as an animal carrier for many years until it started wearing out and was left in the barn. The chickies found it and kept laying eggs in it so when I got the Poultry Barn I moved it over. It is one of their favorite nests still.

That Polar Vortex wind blowing up your Kilt, 24 feeling like 16 degrees, sure puts a spring in your step. Twenty horned up boys carried outside 3 and 4 at a time, girls set loose, everybody fed and watered, first eggs of the day collected, all in less than an hour. Woohoo! I'm exhausted already, lol. Time for another cup of coffee.

Cooked the Chickies some old grits I had, now I'm hungry for grits, lol.

Project of the day... Hanging the $8 Thrift Store Find Tiffany Style Light I found several years ago, that I had no Idea where I was going to hang it, but had t...o have it... in the Poultry Barn instead of the table lamp I was using for a few extra hours of light for the chickies. It has a "Natural Daylight" bulb in it and is on a timer. I may not keep it there but decided to try it and see If I liked it. Eventually I planned on getting a ceiling fan or 2 or 3. In the meantime it serves the purpose... in Style. Lol. PS. Please ignore the cobwebs etc. as I still haven't finished insulating and putting paneling up.
