Having old, unused prescription drugs in your home can be dangerous. This is especially true if you have small children in your home, or if you have frequent gu...ests to your home who may have access to your medicine cabinet. To help you safely and discreetly dispose of any unwanted prescription drugs, RMU is partnering with law enforcement nationwide to participate in the 2021 National Drug Take Back. Next week from April 19 to April 23, Robert Morris University will be collecting your unused prescription drugs. You can handover your unused medications in two ways: - Monday through Friday, April 19th through the 23rd, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm each day, there will be a table set up in Nicholson Hall near the entrance to the cafeteria with a dropbox that you can utilize. -Just inside the front door of the police department there is a dropbox where you can deposit the unused medications. And so you were all aware, the dropbox at the police department is available 365 days a year for you to deposit any unwanted prescription drugs. This is an opportunity for you to clean out your medicine cabinet. There will be no questions asked, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your home, apartment, or dorm is a safer place. Below is a list of parameters governing the drop off of your prescription drugs: -You may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and depositing it directly into the disposal box. If your original container has any identifying information on it, you are encouraged to remove the prescription label. -Solid dosage pharmaceutical products and liquids in consumer containers may be turned in. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. Please ensure that the lid Is tightly sealed to prevent leakage. -Intravenous solutions injectables, and syringes will not be accepted due to the potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens -Illicit substances are not part of this initiative and should not be placed in the collection containers. Should you have any questions regarding this initiative, please contact the Robert Morris Police Department at 412 397 2424.
