(MI) HOLLAND - A Holland police cruiser was struck by drunk driver and officer injured A Holland Department of Public Safety cruiser was struck by an intoxicated driver Saturday, according to police. HDPS said an officer was stopped on the shoulder of US-31 near the Washington Avenue overpass, helping a driver whose vehicle was broken down. A passing drunk driver drifted onto the shoulder and slammed into the back of the cruiser, pushing it off the road and causing it to over.... The officer was wearing a seat belt and had to cut himself out of the flipped over cruiser. After the crash, he said he only had a sore arm, according to HDPS. (WV) KINGWOOD - Firefighter Nearly Hit at WV Accident Scene; Man Charged with DUI A Rowlesburg man was charged with DUI after police say he nearly hit a firefighter who was directing traffic at an accident. John Walter Loughrie, 57, was arrested Sunday. According to the criminal complaint by Preston Sheriff’s Deputy First Class W.E. Crawford, he spotted Loughrie driving a white Ford Ranger on W.Va. 26 and weaving sharply from the double yellow line to the outside white line.... The pickup also was having difficulty negotiating left-hand turns and dropped off the road, nearly hitting the guardrail three times. While seeking a safe place to initiate a traffic stop, they came upon Albright firefighters directing traffic at an accident. The pickup nearly hit a firefighter, the officer said.
