Our Family of the Month for July is the Vallone & Raub family!! 1) Why did you decide to join Robinson's Martial Arts Institute? Chase & Richard - My niece had been going for a while, so I asked Chase if he was interested in going. He said, only if you go, dad. So I figured it would be a great father and son experience that we could do together. Since I already did the gym thing and got bored of just picking items up and putting them down, and I wanted Chase to learn how to ...Continue reading

July's Student of the Month is Teresa Psolka!! 1) Why did you decide to join Robinson's Martial Arts Institute? My daughter was starting to lose interest after taking classes for a year, and she thought it would help if I took lessons with her. About two months after I started, she decided to quit. I kept going.... 2) What benefits have you notices since starting at RMAI? There are physical benefits. My strength and flexibility have improved, as well as coordination. It is also a great mental release. There are days when you go into class feeling frustrated, angry, or upset, and you come out of it with a much better attitude and mindset. It is impossible to have anything else on your mind when training. Something about being forced to focus for one hour is magical. 3) What do you like most about the training at RMAI? I like the challenge, both physically and mentally. When I started, it was a matter of learning the movements and forms and mastering the coordination. That is still true, but now it's also about fine-tuning and paying attention to the details to make it as close to perfect as possible. 4) What hobbies do you have? I enjoy running. I like fishing and gardening/canning. I also enjoy baking and cooking. 5) What would you say to anyone thinking about training at Robinson's Martial Arts Institute? What are you waiting for? There's no excuse. It's for all ages and all abilities. No one expects you to be Bruce Lee. You do karate for you. We're so happy to have Teresa in the Robinson's Martial Arts family and love to see her leaving it all on the floor!! Great job!

In my 45 year career in the martial art of Tang Soo Do, I have been blessed to travel around the world meeting, training with, learning from, and teaching many amazing and inspiring people. One of the Masters I have always admired since the day I met him is Master Roy Uttech from Alaska. He is a man of many talents and skills who lives a life of integrity and honor. He never makes excuses and strives for excellence in everything he does always learning new things. I understand where he gets his drive and attitude from, his late father taught him much about respect and honor, and his mother though we have never met is a role model for us all. She sets the example at age 95. Thank you for sharing this with us Master Uttech and thank you to your mother for her awesome inspiration.

June's Family of the Month is the Youell's Family! Why did you decide to join Robinson's Martial Arts Institute? Ryan started when he was 4. He has always had a LOT of energy. We wanted him to learn how to control his energy and focus his mind. Unfortunately, he wasn't quite ready, so we took a little break. He returned when he was six, and I was blown away by how much he remembered. For several months, I sat on the sidelines until one day, Miss Nikki sat next to me and asked... when I would start training. I honestly had never thought about it, but Master Robinson offered a Mother's Day special, and that is where my journey began. After one class, I learned that my body was capable of doing things I never thought were possible. I was hooked and have been so grateful for the opportunity to train with a group of talented instructors and friends. What benefits have you noticed since starting? Ryan is more focused in all areas of life. Master Robinson spends a lot of time helping students use what they learn in the dojang and transfer those skills into their lives. As a result, I have noticed more confidence in myself, increased strength (both physically and emotionally), and improved health. What do you like most about training? Ryan loves doing the jump front kick and being around other people. This year has been especially difficult for him. He is a very social child, and with cyber school, he has limited opportunities to interact with other children. He has made so many friends at RMAI and looks forward to seeing them every week. I love that I always leave the dojang feeling better than when I walked in. The instructors push me each and every class to reach the potential that they see inside me, the potential I have not seen within myself. I love that in addition to teaching us the movements of a form, one-step, or self-defense technique, we are trained with the "why." It helps me visualize how the technique should look because I know why we are doing that particular movement. I also love the individualized attention that each student receives to help them improve at their own pace. This list could go on and on. I cannot thank Master Robinson and all of the instructors for all they help us to do to become a better version of ourselves in each and every class. What hobbies do you have? Ryan- riding bikes, hiking, hunting, riding quads, and puzzles Ashley- baking, reading, hiking, and camping What would you tell anyone thinking about starting at Robinson's Martial Arts Institute? What are you waiting for? We love having Ryan and Ashley in class and love to see them working hard every time they come in!!

As we welcome 2021 we want to share with you what we are all about. Yes, we are a professional martial arts studio that has been serving our community and beyond for over three decades. Yes, we have a clean and sanitized training facility. Yes, all of our instructors are world class licensed and certified with the World Tang Soo Do Association, a legitimate martial arts organization. Each instructor has also had a criminal background check, child abuse check and FBI fingerpr...int to insure students piece of mind. But that is not why our students choose to train with us year after year. We have a family atmosphere and we genuinely care about each student and their progress toward success. We don't use a cookie cutter approach in our teaching. Every student is taught with their goals in mind, giving them the best opportunity to reach their potential in and out of the studio. We have worked with students from age 4 to age 75 and a few beyond. We have been voted The Studio of the Year for the WTSDA East Coast Region three times. Give us a call at (570) 836-4794 to schedule your free two-week trial lessons.
