Rocky Basin Archery 23.12.2020

We are trying to get ready for a new dust collection system in the shop. However, I couldnt wait any longer to tryout the new drum sander. This is our first set of Cherry tapered laminates off of it.

Just putting the fishing touches on this Sentinel longbow. Main wood is bubinga limbs and riser, with several strips of padauk, maple, bocote, and zebrawood. Tip overlays are black over white phenolic, topped off with a fastflight string. I really like this one !!

Yesterday evening I had an opportunity on a buck. After the shot I questioned my arrow placement. The best train of thought in this situation is "When in doubt, Back Out". I made a mental note of where I last saw him and waited till dark to climb down from my stand. We left him overnight. At daybreak I headed from my stand to the last place I saw him, and there he lay. What a great ending to a sleepless night. I took this deer with my Rocky Basin Archery, 62" Sentinel longbow, cedar arrows, using 125 grain Zwickey broadheads. The shot was a little off the mark but truly lethal nonetheless. He sure isnt my best archery buck, but taking an animal with a bow you design and build yourself is very satisfying. One of my best hunts ever.

This is the first Stalker we built. This is my own personal bow. I love this thing. I'm also loving the cherry burl that will someday be material in future bows.

Brian Haag is testing out the latest 64" Sentinel to come out of the shop today, and it's a shooter like all the rest. Bocote limbs with Bocote, Zebrawood, Bubinga, and a maple stripe for the riser. We finished it off with elk antler tip overlays and a fastflight string.
