Just a Public Service reminder: Regardless of how interesting something may seem to be, be careful where you click. Many of those "interesting" things are there to tempt you to click so you will end up with a virus or a "locked screen" trying to scare you into calling someone who is NOT who they claim to be. Face it folks, they just want your money or control of your computer. Don't give either one to them. Be safe out there. The internet can be a very dangerous place...

If you're not doing it already, BACK UP YOUR FILES! Don't think that "I have my files on my computer so I'm OK. Believe me. I have stacks of hard drives that have failed. Many people have lost pictures, documents, etc because they did not have them backed up somewhere. You may even get hit with some type of ransomware virus that will encrypt your files and you won't be able to open them again unless you pay a ransom for a decrypt key. Back them up and be safe. If you have questions, let us know. If you need help we will be happy to help you.

Just an FYI. If you get a message on your computer telling you something like the FBI has found something (child porn or whatever), lock your browser, and you need to call some 800 number, DON'T DO IT! It's a scam and they are just trying to scare you into letting them into your computer. Once there, they will probably do nothing, say they have and expect you to pay them. If you then do not pay them, they may well do something, like really screw up your computer. You can "unl...ock" your browser in a couple of different ways. If you know how to use TASKMGR, you can "End the process" of your browser session. If you don't, if all else fails, you can press and hold your "Power On" button until your computer shuts off, usually about 5 or 6 second. Wait about 10 seconds and you can start it back up again. The hack is usually the result of something on whatever web page you were when it happened. Be careful where you go on the web and where you click. See more
