Ask Don Russell what he knows about sugaring and one of the first things he’s likely to say is, Something I learned long ago is that you just can’t make syrup ...without sap. That may seem like a pretty obvious thing, but Don knows better than most just how important it is to have the healthiest woods and the right equipment to make the most of collecting your tree sap. The Russell family has been sugaring and farming for generations, and working their current farm since 1918. The farm dates back to the 1700s. In 1959, the family started in maple supply business after Don’s uncle saw an ad in Maple Digest. They were bucketing at the time and thought tubing was the place to go. Lucky for us, they were right. Today, Don’s oldest son is taking over the farm, carrying on the traditions of his father and grandfather. LOCAL ANGUS BEEF SALE We will have more Angus Beef cows available by the half or whole, from the end of November till the end of December. Hanging weight by half would be about 350lbs leaving you with 220lbs of packaged meat per half. It’s $2.25 a lb hanging weight plus butchering charges. Our outstanding butcher is Allen’s Precision Meat Processing. He charges $50 per half and $0.60 per lb hanging weight. All that calculated out would make your meat about $4.75 a lb! That’s Local Angus Beef (rib-eyes, porterhouses, sirloins, roasts, burgers ext.) for only $4.75 a lb! A $50 deposit will need to be put down to reserve your half. Message us for more information and to reserve a half for your family!
