The Tenth anniversary of Pastor J.O Leibensperger as pastor of Salem Church from the early 1920s. Pr Leibensperger ended up serving Salem Church for nearly 36 years. #Lutheran

This precious woman went to Mass yesterday in France and she was fatally stabbed by a terrorist. Her final words were: tell my children that I love them. Her name was Simone Barretto Silva. Please pray for her family.

On this day, 20 October 1518, Luther debated Thommaso de Via (called "Cajetan") at the Diet of Augsburg. Their disagreement was over papal authority, especially on the matter of indulgences. This discussion shaped Luther's later belief in Sola Scriptura.
