Harvest times this week and in future weeks will be 4 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Jeff and Dave need people to show up to help harvest for the pantries and, of course, there’s always weeding to do if the harvesting gets done early. Concerning Thursday’s potluck, it’ll begin about 6 p.m. in the pavilion near the church. Spouses are welcome to attend. For those unsure of what to bring, here’s a sampling of what people have brought to potlucks in the past: a...ll kinds of salads, including green salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, and chicken salad; casseroles or quiches; breads or rolls; crackers and cheeses; dips with veggies or chips; and cookies and pies. See you in the garden!
Sunset over the garden by Scott
The first Wednesday evening harvest will be held this week, starting at 4pm. Anyone who would like to participate can help Dave or Jeff harvest lettuce and possibly kale for the pantry. See you in the garden!
Since the forecast calls for temperatures in the 30's Saturday morning and since we already planted many of the veggies that need to go in the earliest, Dave has decided to cancel Saturday work day on 4/3 Happy Easter to all!
It's Spring!!!!! This week there will be Tuesday morning work session, beginning around 9am, and Saturday morning session also around 9am. *For our new members the garden guidelines also mention Wednesday evening sessions but we won't start those up until closer to harvesting ... Anyone who wants to come to the garden on their own can move mulch/compost onto the community beds that need to be topped off, or move wood chips onto bare spots on the paths. See you in the garden!
Hello everyone! The materials for the new garden fence are ready to go, so the garden fence construction will be this Saturday November 21 starting at 9am. It looks like it will be a beautiful day! See you in the garden!
This is a reminder that the garden will meet Saturday October 10th starting at 9:00 a.m. in the church pavilion to discuss past and future Garden projects. Masks are required to gather in the pavilion. Dave would also like to do some preliminary work on Saturday laying the new fence around the garden expansion area. The fence installation is scheduled for Saturday October 31st. Clean up of the community beds and individual plots continues. will be assisted in some fall projec...ts by a Boy scout troop that meets at the church. Hopefully everyone can come out and help from 9:00 to 12:00 on Saturday October 31st as we do this big service project with Boy Scout Troop 24 where we'll be doing a lot of things including installing the new deer fence! See you in the garden!
Hello everyone! We won't be doing Sunday night harvests at the garden any longer. The only exception may be if it rains all day Saturday and we can't harvest Saturday morning. The Tuesday morning and Wednesday at 5pm harvests will continue and tommorow Jeff is hoping to harvest one of the large watermelons which volunteers can sample before we take the rest to the Pantries. For those with individual plots if you can't use all your veggies tell Dave or Jeff and we'll harvest ...them for donation. See you in the garden!
Another beautiful week in the garden!
The garden is doing so well!
The garden is doing so well! We're harvesting lots of squashes, tomatoes, potatoes, beans, spinach, kale and more to donate to the neighborhood Pantry! Volunteer plots are also thriving and the pollinators are enjoying all the wonderful flowers!
Because of the extreme heat predicted for Sunday, there won't be a harvest session on this Sunday evening. On Saturday morning we'll do some harvesting in the morning beginning around 8 am and we'll leave what we harvest in the shade for Dave. Dave said he might stop at the garden early Sunday morning, if anyone wants to join him then. If you stop by early Sunday morning it would be best to wait until Dave gets there to do the harvesting. See you in the Garden!
