A personal request from SRI staff member Sarah Gowan: The Ashokan Center is an independent nonprofit traditional music and environmental education center in Olivebridge, NY. I've had the privilege of being on staff at their Family Camp for the past several years and have experienced first-hand what a positive, nurturing place this is for kids and adults. They have been incredibly resourceful during the pandemic, but could use our help to keep these fabulous programs going st...rong. Today is the perfect day to donate to this amazing organization - Your gift will make double the impact because the Rondout Esopus Land Conservancy has offered a $5,000 challenge match and another generous donor has offered $15,000 match, for a total of $20,000 in matching funds for gifts to Ashokan! And, for gifts made beginning at 8am, Facebook will match $8 million dollars worldwide. For more about the Ashokan Center: https://ashokancenter.org/

It’s Thanksgiving already? Go figure! I’ve got a lot to be thankful for this year. I and my family are happy & healthy. My friends, as far as I know, are also happy and healthy. Work is crazy busy. And while it’s been a very difficult year for many, it seems that recently there’s been some very real improvement in our world. That light at the end of the tunnel may not be a freight train after all. (I’m not promising it isn’t Amtrak, however.)... But it’s not getting better for everyone. Many people are still out of work, or not doing the work they want to do. Many people who are working are having a tough time of it. We’ve all had a huge amount of cr*p to deal with for quite a while. And so I would like to remind you; Be respectful. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Be kind, even (especially) when kindness is held back from you. Be patient. Not everyone is as strong as you think they are. Be helpful. Reaching out to lift someone up benefits everyone. Be honest, both with yourself and others. I wish you all the very best the holidays have to offer And I wish you peace Be well. Stay safe. A Sapsis Rigging Birthday! SRI is turning 40! Yes, you heard that right40 years old on October 13. Yowza! I know that some folks tend to blanch at the thought of turning 40. But an organization looks at age differently. Anniversaries are celebratory events and the more the merrier. Turning 40 is a great indication that a company has character, stamina and experience. ... There’s no question we’re a bunch of characters here at SRI and, to give you an idea how much stamina and experience we have, here are some stats... Since 1981 we have Worked on over 7,500 rigging projects. Conducted more than 3700 inspections on land and at sea. Held more than 500 training seminars on 5 continents. Been involved with hundreds of conferences, seminars & symposiums around the world. Sold a metric boatload of rigging gear to the entertainment industry. None of this gets accomplished by magic. It takes a dedicated, talented and experienced group of people to pull it all together. Sapsis Rigging has been blessed with an amazing staff since the very beginning. And some of them are still here! To everyone who has helped make Sapsis Rigging a success - our staff, past and present, our friends and colleagues around the world, our vendors and suppliers and, most especially to our customers and clients - I want to say Thank You! It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you and work with you these 40 years. I’m looking forward to 40 more! Be well. Stay safe. Greetings all. I missed a typo in the RetroSpreader description in yesterday's issue of netHeads! The RetroSpreader description should read.... "The RetroSpreader is designed to be installed into counterweight system arbors that do not have enough spreader plates to meet the current standard of one (1) plate per every two (2) vertical feet of arbor height. In situations where the counterweight arbor already has the proper number of plates, the RetroSpreader may be used to differentiate between pipe weight and load weight." My apologies for the confusion. Thanks, Bill Sapsis http://www.sapsis-rigging.com/Merchant5/merchant.mvc
