Throwback to 1932 with these pictures of the phone book. There are a few familiar names in that book!

Two world wars, the Great Depression, and two fires, is what we, Sarcone’s Bakery, have survived over the years. I myself, Lou Sarcone III, was only around for one of the fires and I was still young in school. Today I can see why we’re still here. I’m so proud and honored to take over a 102 year old bakery but I’m even more proud that it’s in the city of Philadelphia! During this time we came very close to having to close our doors for the foreseeable future. All within 2-3 ...days we lost over 70% of our daily production. We had a lot of confused and scared customers calling saying they were going to keep fighting and feeding the citywhile staying safe and following protocoland I wanted to make sure we didn’t let them down in anyway, so we stayed open. It was amazing to see how many friends and locals came out to support us and this city, using delivery service, call-a-heads, and quick exchanges. Although we’re not through it yet, we see the light at the end of the tunnel, and that’s because of you and your support. THANK YOU PHILADELPHIA! STAY SAFE! We love you. See more

Louis Edmond Sarcone May 22, 1935 - July 3, 2018 Heaven just gained an angel and one hell of a baker. Thank you for being the best father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband, and friend any of us could ever imagine. Thank you for teaching us the importance of family, discipline and humor. Thank you for always making us laugh, even when all we want to do is cry. Thank you for being an amazing role model and always standing by our side. We love you forever and miss you more than you’ll ever know. Give Mom mom a hug for us. Until we meet again...

Groundhog update: An expert has confirmed that the babies are old enough to feed without their mama. Therefore aside from bad weather keeping them hidden they should once again appear when the skies clear. We have left fresh veggies and fruits in their path. I promise the first sighting we will record it for you all. We are thankful that starvation is no longer an issue.
