3D Printed Buildings? It is a very interesting concept - I have concerns about energy efficiency and different issues related to human comfort, but everything is adaptable...and I could see how this would be extremely helpful in the production of windows, doors, frames, and repeatable objects within a building envelope...check out this article...
SCF Architecture would like to introduce you to our newest team member, Clint Newton, III. Clint has an extensive architectural background as well as a vast array of experience in many other facets of the construction industry and life. We are very happy to welcome his project management experience, technical abilities and fun personality to the office. Last week, Clint was awarded the ROBERT P. BROSSEAU MEMORIAL AWARD by the Middle Atlantic Region of CSI (Construction Sp...ecifications Institute). This award is presented to a CSI member who has been recognized by peers as a leader who takes on a leadership role focusing on education and the training and mentoring, and have, through their activities, exemplified the dedication and enthusiasm for the Construction Specifications Institute. The individual must be an acclaimed supporter of the goals of the Institute, an active participant in Region affairs, a loyal Chapter leader, and through the member’s career must have fostered excellence in product selection and specifications. Mr. Brosseau served the Baltimore Chapter, the Middle Atlantic Region, and the Institute as committee chairman and officer. He was a natural leader, an industry member who recognized the value and importance of the Institute. Clint is a member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter of CSI, has been Vice President, President Elect, and President. He has served as committee chair for the annual Expo and currently chairs the Electronic Communications Committee as well as having supported many efforts and committees. Clint is also the coordinator for Canstruction of the Greater Lehigh Valley which is supported by GLV CSI in joint venture with AIA Eastern PA. We're very proud to have such an active volunteer as part of our SCFA team. @greaterlehighvalleycsi
Your roof is your home's first defense against water infiltration. When getting your roof repaired or replaced, please make sure to hire a licensed, reputable roofing contractor that knows what they are doing. Especially when it comes to FLASHING - your architectural word of the day. This is metal or flexible sheets (rubber or EPDM, TPO or PVC) that are used to keep the water out when things penetrate your roof - like chimneys. I was on a site today that just had their roo...f replaced and this is what I saw...a piece of sheet metal cut to "look like" real step flashing stuck to the side of the chimney. It is doing this homeowner no good...the diagram shows how it should be installed, tucked into the brick, overlapping layers of metal...this is a construction standard that an average homeowner should not have to worry about....call me if you need help or need details to get your work done properly.
