The School for Formal Bookbinding 11.07.2021

After a lot of thought I've decided to cancel the rest of this year's scheduled classes. Hopefully by next year we'll be able to get up and running. In the meanwhile everybody stay safe and keep in touch.

The School for Formal Bookbinding 05.07.2021

Hi everybody, I was going to start this out with a "Happy New Year", but given the events of the past day I don't know if it's warranted. However, I got a call this morning from a binder in the Lehigh Valley/Allentown area of PA who has some equipment for sale, so I'm passing on her information. She has two job backers, one roller and one not; a standing press and, I think, a couple of smaller (maybe nipping)presses; and a Kensol stamper. Her name is Elizabeth and her contac...t information is: email: [email protected] phone: 610-217-7334; leave a message and she'll get back to you. Hope someone can put some of this to good use. This is a bad news/good news sort of post. The bad is that Linda Cunningham, who was here in 2008, passed away from cancer last week. Among other things she was a fiber & book artist who did really interesting work, and also became a bit of an online personality. She had hoped to make one last trip to visit friends, but it wasn't to be. She will be missed. The good news is that Liz McHugh will be graduating from North Bennett Street School's bookbinding program this month. Liz took classes here to produce work for her admissions portfolio; apparently it worked :). Congratulations Liz!

An update on this year's classes: there are still two spaces available for the April Foundations class; two spaces for the June Cloth Conservation and Leather Conservation classes, and two spaces for the six classes this fall.

ALSO: I recently realized that 2016 will be the tenth (?) (!!) anniversary of the School, so I'm soliciting suggestions or ideas to acknowledge a decade of instruction and to thank all the students who have graced these (rather furry) halls over that time.
