Philly’s 10k event went virtual this year but that did not hinder their fundraising efforts! Philly 10k was able to raise $4,000 for SEAMAAC’s hunger relief efforts. "It is inspiring to know that the good folks from Philly 10K and Runhouse stand with SEAMAAC as we work to build a new future one based on justice, love and equity for all" Thoai Nguyen, SEAMAAC CEO... The funds raised will help SEAMAAC continue to provide vital resources for marginalized Philadelphians experiencing food insecurity. Since the pandemic began SEAMAAC has provided more than 200,000 unique instances of hunger relief by offering hot prepared meals, food box distribution & no contact in-home delivery, and through our food pantry. In such unprecedented times, we must continue to Stand Together. Thank you The Philly 10K & Runhouse for supporting the Philadelphia community. Artwork: Melita Tirado Illustration

Earlier in the month SEAMAAC and our partners broke ground on SEAMAAC’s renovation of Growing Home Gardens on Emily Street! The renovation will bring new garden beds, fencing, water system and more! We’ll have to wait for the spring to cut the ribbon, so in the meantime take a look through these beautiful pictures from our event on October 5th. ... Growing Home Gardens was awarded a $53,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Local Share Account Program. At a time when food security is at risk for the most vulnerable in our communities, it is of paramount importance that we facilitate access and control over the means of production, and reestablish people's relationship to the land we live on, and support peoples ability to sustain their families in the most dignified manner Thoai Nguyen SEAMAAC is grateful for all our partners including, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the Neighborhood Gardens Trust, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Councilman Mark Squilla, State Senator Larry Farnese, and State Representative Elizabeth Fiedler.
