Holiday and seasonal decorations are truly a treasure and bring us so much joy! But, if you are struggling to even find these special treasures in a too-cluttered storage area, or you can’t handle them because they are broken, the joy can turn to frustration. Our trick is to start by ridding yourself of what is broken and can not be repaired. This can be hard if it’s something special, but if you can’t enjoy it because it’s falling apart, it is time to part with it. And for your extras? Tools are always useful--even if our clients are moving to a senior living community--but too much of a good thing is still too much! Our tip to our clients is the same at the utensil drawer, keep only what you actually use. Do you have a child or grandchild just starting out on their own? Tools are a great gift, especially the ones that come from you. Tools also tend to last: they rarely wear out, and tend to hold good value if you decide to give away or sell some of yours. A tip we tell our clients is to clean out your car when you are getting gasoline - there is usually a trash can right at the pump! This is a great way to make sure clutter doesn’t have a chance to accumulate. Keep an extra reusable bag in your car to load up with all the odds and ends that have found their way into your car. Neat and tidy and all together!
