Woke up to 20 degrees and Snow!!! Young Tender Peony Stalks, Tulips, Late Narcissus, Orange Tiger Lilies, and Red Bee Balm are all drooping. The Bleeding Hear...ts look the worst...but we'll see. Hopefully they will come around. See more
We got our 25 little Hen Peeps this past week...in the Mail...were a little late. We took them to the Brooder House immediately and put them under the heat lam...p...if they get cold they can die... one did die. We use the heat lamp for 4 or 5 weeks depending on the weather and how they grow. They start laying eggs in October...6 months. When they first start, the eggs are small.
I found Two Morels under our very, very old Apple Tree in our yard. Most Exciting! The Best...the Queen of Wild Mushroom! When I was young growing up in Ontario..., Every year, we found lots of them on my Grandma's Farm. Since moving down here... I've found a couple Morels only 4 other times in 50 years. So I get really excited when I find some!! My brother next to me is the Ultimate Nature Guru... He lives 8 hours east of where we grew up, near Quebec. The other year, he found and picked a shopping bag full of Morels.
A friend came by to get an uplift bouquet! Forget-Me-Nots, Pink Hyacinths, VA Blue Bells, Blue Grape Hyacinths.
The Shad Bush/June Cherry/Shad Blow/Serviceberry//Amelanchier... Has tasty Cherries in June...bears, coons love them... Sometimes the bear can break the tree.
