Sean Kilkenny was selected in 2020 as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the area of Municipal Law. This distinction is limited to the top 5% of Attorneys in Pennsylvania as rated by their peers. More information about Sean’s selection will appear in the June issue of Philadelphia Magazine. As principal of Kilkenny Law, he has provided counsel on real estate, zoning, permitting, environmental, financing, employment, and litigation matters to municipalities across the Philadelph...ia suburbs. Currently, Sean serves as solicitor to numerous Townships, Boroughs, Zoning Boards, and School Districts in the Philadelphia suburbs. He also serves as special counsel to the hardworking members of the Laborers Local 135 in Norristown. Sean P. Kilkenny was elected in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 as the Sheriff of Montgomery County, the third largest county in the Commonwealth. He was a long-serving member of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps and the son of a police officer. Kilkenny served his country as an officer in both the active duty U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve for more than two decades. Now a retired lieutenant colonel, he began his military career as a paratrooper and federal prosecutor in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He has served in Iraq, Kosovo, Bosnia, and South Korea. Kilkenny was appointed to the County Records Committee by Governor Wolf in 2017 and has served on the board of Montgomery County Community College since 2013. Kilkenny earned a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College and a master of public administration from the University of South Carolina. He also earned his juris doctor from Temple University and his undergraduate degree from Villanova University. Kilkenny is also a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Training Program. He resides in Jenkintown with his wife and two daughters. See more
