you glad I’m posting from this shoot with @elisemearss again? Cuz I sure never get sick of it.

Been a little MIA from social media due to a crazy packed last two weeks. In those two weeks there have been awesome shoots and things like @julia.sheker landing on the cover of the @seniorstyleguide April issue. But I want to be careful not to glamorize the grind because that grind has earned me a sinus infection & bronchitis & insomnia & being sick meant I spent Mothers Day in bed, instead of celebrating with family ... Woo hoo for things to celebrate but I also yay for the reminders that I am not a robot and I need to slow down and make time for rest as well.

Making updates to my website means stumbling across past gems I never shared. Absolute fave. Never thought I’d love the simplicity of some of the studio images I’ve made as much as the outdoor ones, but here we are. Moving into our studio 3 years ago continues to be the best decision ever.

Good lord. I swear it was just June 2021 and the Class Of 2022 season was kicking offnow here we are just weeks from all their graduations. Soak up every minute of these last few weeks kids.

Always baffled why we don’t get more spring senior sessions each year!! The blooming trees and patches of bright yellow blooms along the river has me itching to do a blooms shoot!!

Are you photo 1 or photo 2 about Valentine’s Day? My hubby and I have been together for 20 years (good God, I’m old) and we’ve never been huge Valentine’s people. But the few times we’ve actually celebrated it, my fave mementos are the hand made goofball cards he’s drawn for me. Lemme know in the comments where you stand on the Day!

Do you think if I only post photos that evoke feelings of summer and the feel of warm sunshine on my face, that it’ll will all the snow in the forecast away?

She’s basically a masterpiece

You have to take care, when running a business directly tied to your creative passions, that you don’t squash your creativity by burning yourself out. In the craziness of everything that 2020 through our way, in the hustle of trying to do it all myself, not only did I successfully burn myself out mid fall, but I sank into an awful depression and anxiety bout that only NOW can I see Im starting to come out of. Truth? I didn’t want to go anywhere near a camera after my last... shoot of the year & even when my shiny new Canon R6 camera arrived, I let it sit for weeks next to my desk without so much as turning it on. I’m busting my butt playing catch up from all that fell by the wayside with unanswered emails and editing from the last two months...but this quick little shoot with @alizemarie14 to test out our lighting gear (and yes finally pick up my camera), was the little spark I needed to get excited about shooting again. Not to mention it’s really ignited my focus to get everything I need to get done and checked off the to-do list. And yes...I learned from those mistakes and running myself into the ground and have hired an editor & a social media manager to ensure that my 2021 isn’t just good for my business but good for my heart and my mental health. #hugestepsforward

Since my last post, I’m another year older though let’s be real, I feel like the last year aged me about 7 years Highlight of the last year was no doubt all the fab kids I had in front of my lens. So many fab images still to share!!

One of my favorite things about my senior portrait process is working with my seniors to find locations that fit the vibe & vision they have for their sessions. This always leads to me either turning to some tried and true locations or finding some awesome new ones. Loved getting to shoot at this new spot this summer! Only bummer was that due to how popular this spot became this year I only got to shoot there once. Fingers crossed I get to snag some time again here next summer

Maxed out this field out for the past five years and now it’s completely bulldozed and getting prepped for development. Finding awesome fields that are easily accessible with the perfect light and where you don’t have to hunt for who owns it to get permission to shoot there is not the easiest thing! So many of my fave fields throughout the years keep getting developed and I gotta say it royally bums me out. But until the spring when I have to prioritize finding a new one, I’m gonna soak up all the amazing photos and memories I made here.

Taking a few minutes to emerge from the editing cave for a Long over due share on the blog of my 2020 @seniorstyleguide fashion issue editorial, On Broadway. It was a whirlwind 24 hours in NYC back at the beginning of March full of theatre, copious amounts of sanitizer, and of course fab fashion and photo shoots. Ya blink and it’s been six days and a whole holiday celebration since I last posted. But as we know sometimes social media needs to take a back seat and life off the ‘gram takes priority. One thing I did very very little this year was experiment in the studio, schedule any editorial shoots & create just for fun...as creatives that is SOUL FOOD and holy crap am I feeling the effects of that hardcore right about now. Burnout isn’t cute, but it definitely provides much needed lessons on what is essential to me as a creative & what changes need to be made in the coming year to ensure that need doesn’t get put on the shelf...pandemic or not. Back to the editing cave I go....byeeeeee!

No glass slippers left behind here...just a pair of nice Birkenstocks. Perhaps someday Prince Charming will show up at @nataliekoranda_ ‘s door with them for a try on

West Coast kinda day today....

Ya know what my favorite part of @coreyczyzyk’s session was? Nope not all the rad spots we shot at in Philly...but how excited she was from start to finish! I lost count of how many times she exclaimed OMG I FEEL AMAZING. OMG Can’t believe that’s me! Omg! This is so fun! Her excitement kept me so hyped the whole session and Im so happy with the images we made that night!!

Fall is my favorite season everrrrr. But not because of pumpkin spice anything I love cooler temps, fall fashion, layers, beanies...the list goes on. Fall is also hell on earth for photographers. #truestory If you’re waiting on an email response from me or a text, I haven’t forgotten you, it’s just that there are only but so many hours of the day and this (mostly) one girl show is perpetually behind, going from one thing to the next, and still not seeming to make a dent in the to do list. #theexhaustionisrealyo Speaking of which..off to Philly for a shoot I go.

I have a dream, that one day we won’t be limited to the awful 8x10 crop on Instagram. Until that day comes, enjoy today’s #SeniorSunday Sneak Peek with my intern, @alaniscastro_ ... If you missed the behind the scenes from her session you can find it in my BTS highlight. This girl had a very clear theme and vision for her session: fall vogue inspired menswear vibes. We worked together to perfectly pair the oversized menswear pieces with more fitted pieces so that she wasn’t over powered by the clothes & left looking like she was playing dress up in dad’s closet. I’d say we freaking nailed it. Leave her some love and tell us which is your fave?!

Every shoot is an adventure & I loved every last minute with this gal and her mama on Wednesday. Her makeup reveal with Ivana from @mkupthebeautystudio on Wednesday was the best ever (like seriously...mom got all teary eyed and Ivana got all teary eyed )! And holy crapballs...I couldn’t decide on just ONE picture to post so gosh darn it here’s a max out the limit post because @avastevenson1 absolutely KILLED IT. Even when I’m dead tired, depleted, feel like I’m running on fumes and no matter how hard I work seem to never make a dent in the backlog...never doubt, i freakin’ love my job and the amazing girls and families that continue to allow me to live out my dream!

Did someday say IVY?!! I mean , #FloralFriday?! Traipsing around @longwoodgardens with Izzy on Sunday was quite the adventure battling the crowds but got to shoot in the Meadow Gardens for the first time ever and the misty rain at the end had nothing on this gorgeous girl!

I’m beyond grateful that in this crazy year I have been beyond blessed with a jam packed schedule & have gotten to meet so many amazing seniors and their parents. so many amazing memories and photos made!! ... Will be working on finalizing my winter and spring calendar so if you’re a 2021 senior who missed the boat on a snagging a session with me this year, no worries! Still plenty of time to get your shoot in during the winter and spring! Stay tuned for when those dates open!
