The weather is cold and nobody's playing ball right now, so I thought I'd reach into the vault for some pictures from 2017. Here are 3 girls I had the privilege of coaching at Hershey who could really hit the long ball. That's Mikala Awde going way out deep to center (one of many), Gabby Malina hit that one so far over the left field wall I thought it would reach Chocolate World, and Carly Moreli launched this lunar rocket out at Hershey (Her's were allways a mile high and deep), and also hit the first ball ever out of the park at rival Lower Dauphin's new home field. Notice the way Miki and Gabby really turn their shoulders through the swing. Now That's a finish!

Got to work with some hitters in this beautiful fall weather out at the Weigle Cage and Chicken Ranch. Here's Keirney in a cool slo-mo showing near perfect tilt here as she squares it up and drives it to the back of the cage. (Note the artsy ponytail swish at the end of the swing). Looks like the weather is going to be pretty nice for a few days, so it's a great time get outside and practice that swing.

OK, say you're 12 years old, playing your last tournament on the 50'/70'/225' field, and you want to go out with a bang. Well Jason Stewart did just that. How's 8 for 11, 2 HR's (including a grand slam), 2 doubles and 9 RBI's!!! He also did it with the glove, making a rally killing play in the final with a backhand in the 5-6 hole and gunned the runner out at first. His team wins the tournament. Now THAT'S a swan song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (also, thanks to Jason's cousin for these awesome pics)

Here's EJ Lowry," the King of Torque", working on balls down and in. My previous post used E.J. to show what torque is, now you get to see how it works. I don't know another hitter that uses his legs and core better in his swing. I left the first swing at full speed to show just how incredibly quick he gets barrel to ball. In the second, I slowed down the beginning to show exactly how he does it. Watch how the rear knee is already driving down and forward at toe touch while his hands and shoulder remain back. Now that's TORQUE!
