Today, my firm, our amazing attorney partners in this case, and a group of other excellent civil rights attorneys filed federal lawsuits against the City of Philadelphia, Mayor Kenney, Police Commissioner Outlaw, Deputy Police Commissioner Wilson, and other defendants. We are working tirelessly to elevate voices of the protestors and residents in the City of Philadelphia who were brutalized -- some in their own homes and communities -- while standing up and speaking out agai...nst police brutality and/or otherwise peaceably existing in their neighborhoods. The City responded to protests and justifiable rage about police murdering Black people by firing tear gas canisters and rubber bullets at demonstrators, observers, and residents who were peaceably chanting hands up; don’t shoot and I can’t breathe or otherwise peaceably existing in their own neighborhoods. The City must be held accountable for these actions and our clients must be heard.
