We will be working this week to formulate a plan for reopening. We understand that we CAN reopen on 5/8, but have chosen not to until we can be sure we have the best practices in place to care for your children in the safest way possible. There have been several webinars released that will likely be helpful in determining what steps will be necessary, and we will be viewing those in the next few days. At this time we know that we will NOT reopen for the week of 5/11 either. Our survey results have been helpful, and the overwhelming majority of families are not in a desperate situation for child care right now. But please stay tuned for updates. We want to reopen sooner than later, but also want to make wise decisions. As soon as we know for sure...we’ll let YOU know!

Our local Cub Scout troop is raising money by doing a Front Porch Project! It’s so easy....gather your family, head outside, smile and be silly for 10 min and you’re done! The donations they receive will be split with the Cochranton Caring Committee food pantry. Comment here if you’d like to participate!

Reopening update: Child care is listed in the yellow phase, which might happen by 5/8. However, we are still waiting on clarification as to what it would mean for us to have worker and building safety orders. Obviously, children cannot social distance or wear masks! So...we keeping waiting for further information on the details. Stay tuned!

We miss you all so much! We also know you are eagerly anticipating an announcement of when we will reopen...and we are, too! While we cannot wait to jump back into doing what we love, caring for your children, we also understand the seriousness of this situation and must follow the recommendations of health professionals and the Office of Early Learning and Child Development. We are anxiously awaiting further instructions, and will let you know as soon as we can project an ...opening date. Obviously, we cannot possibly "social distance" while caring for little people, so we will just have to wait and see what the recommend. In the mean time, we understand that some kiddos love the idea of "homework" and continued learning activities at home. So this week we're working on putting together some packets to mail home for our Preschool and PreK kiddos. These are completely optional, and are not meant to be stressful for you! If your child wants to participate- wonderful! If not- please don't worry about it. We just wanted to offer some at-home activities in case your child would be interested. Each packet will have a letter from your child's teacher with some explanations about what the packet contains. Also- we wanted to make sure you knew that Cochranton Community Church highly values our Sonlight staff. With the exeption of the week of 3/16, our teachers have been receiving full paychecks each week, despite our closure. And those will continue until we reopen.
