Dear customers and friends, As many of you already know, last week a local website ran a piece on Philadelphia restaurants with health code violations and featured a picture of South Street Philly Bagels. First and most importantly, please be assured that South Street Philly Bagels is operating in full compliance with all health and food codes for the City of Philadelphia. Our small family-owned business is now entering its sixth generation and providing our customers superio...r quality, healthy and safe food products remains our number one priority. We want nothing more than to continue to bring you the best bagels in Philadelphia and would never put our customers' health in harm's way. That said we would like to officially set the record straight and provide our devoted customers and friends with the details of our most recent health inspection. First, we were never forced to close due to serious violations. Second, our most significant finding was related to a malfunctioning water heater and we voluntarily closed until it was fully remedied. Third, we were cited for various small infractions, including a misplaced beverage in a food preparation station, which were either corrected immediately on-site or remedied shortly thereafter. As we stated at the opening, we continue to operate our small family-owned business in full compliance with the law. Lastly, we fully recognize the social utility of articles such as these and appreciate their attempt to notify the public of food safety concerns. These articles, however, must be accurate and present the public with all the facts. That was not the case here and we were heartbroken when customers expressed a crisis in confidence with our business. Rest assured we remain fully committed to providing you with healthy and safe products and to serving this community with integrity and honesty.
