Gospel of the Day (Luke 14,15-24) One of those at table with Jesus said to him, "Blessed is the one who will dine in the kingdom of God." He replied to him, "A ...man gave a great dinner to which he invited many. When the time for the dinner came, he dispatched his servant to say to those invited, 'Come, everything is now ready.' But one by one, they all began to excuse themselves. The first said to him, 'I have purchased a field and must go to examine it; I ask you, consider me excused.' And another said, 'I have purchased five yoke of oxen and am on my way to evaluate them; I ask you, consider me excused.' And another said, 'I have just married a woman, and therefore I cannot come.' The servant went and reported this to his master. Then the master of the house in a rage commanded his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor and the crippled, the blind and the lame.' The servant reported, 'Sir, your orders have been carried out and still there is room.' The master then ordered the servant, 'Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled. For, I tell you, none of those men who were invited will taste my dinner.'" https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/11/03.html See more

Cuando fallece uno de los esposos, el vínculo jurídico y sacramental que les unía desaparece... pero ¿y el amor que se tenían?

Gospel of the Day (John 6:37-40) Jesus said to the crowds: Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, b...ecause I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day. https://www.vaticannews.va//word-of-the-day/2020/11/02.html See more

Joke of the weekend: Two little neighbor girls about the same age, one Christian and one Jewish, were constant companions. After one Easter holiday, the grandfather of the Christian girl asked her what her friend had received for Easter. The girl looked at her grandfather in surprise, and said, But Grandpa, you should know that Becky is Jewish and she wouldn’t get anything for Easter. Then she went on to explain patiently, You see, I’m Easter and she’s Passover. I’m Christmas and she’s Hanukkah. Then with a big smile, she added, but I’m really glad that both of us are Halloween. Blessed be God who is glorified in His Saints! The ancient question that St. Bernard of Clairvaux poses on this feast day is "Why should our praise and glorific...ation, or even the celebration of this feast day mean anything to the Saints?" (OR II of the Solemnity) Essentially, what is the purpose of the All Saints’ Day? Why do we celebrate these holy men and women? Today is for us! It gives us the example to grow in holiness as St. Bernard says, "When I think of them, I feel myself inflamed by a tremendous yearning" (Ibid) to be like them. We reflect on this many times, but how do we grow in holiness? By following the example of today’s Saints who lived the Beatitudes in today’s Gospel. It is by the Beatitudes that we are instructed on how to inherit the Kingdom of God and grow in holiness. As we reflect on the beauty of this day, we rejoice in God’s generosity in calling the Saints and us to the glory of Heaven. Where they have gone, we hope to follow!

Solemnity of All Saints November 1, 2020 This feast first honored martyrs. Later, when Christians were free to worship according to their consciences, the Church acknowledged other paths to sanctity. In the early centuries the only criterion was popular acclaim, even when the bishop’s approval became the final step in placing a commemoration on the calendar. The first papal canonization occurred in 993; the lengthy process now required to prove extraordinary sanctity took for...m in the last 500 years. Today’s feast honors the obscure as well as the famousthe saints each of us have known.
