The Spry Mansion

We've kept busy this summer on our progress. We wanted to share some before and after work of the corbels, reproducing crown modelings of dormers, replacing slate on the roof, lots of repainting, and pressure washing the brick.

There was only one bottom corbel left on one of the dormer windows, the rest have been cut off years ago. There was a shadow of the decorative part of the old corbel, so I was able to recreate it. Also the window seals have been cut off on both sides of the dormers, I'll have to replace the seals with new ones that are as wide as the old ones once were. Bringing it back to how it once was. Finally this home will stand proud again. We also found a the perfect used mailbox. We repainted it and added a new door.

If you haven't been past the house lately, there has been scraping, priming, and painting. We are working on the worst parts first. There is a lot of woodwork that has been lost or falling apart, so it has been slow going. Even though there has been a lot of work done this far, it finally feels like something is getting done.

While we were working on the House last summer, we had the opportunity to visit with Alexandria (Sandy) Kotulak, Zeroka. The daughter of Anthony Kotulak, who owned the house from 1944 to about 2003. They bought the House from the original Spry Family. She was nice enough to share her history, and how the Spry family originally used the rooms. Sandy also gave us old photos when her Family lived there. This is the same fireplace Sandy and her husband Dan had their wedding photos taken.
