January 2021 For anyone receiving an e-mail or text message asking for gift cards or monetary help from Fr. Pendzick, Fr. Joji or Deacon Mike - they are very personalized scam messages. Please ignore them - do not reply - DO NOT send them any money or gift cards. If you have already done so please contact your credit card company or bank to stop payment immediately. We are aware that this message is going out from a bogus e-mail ([email protected]) however we have ...no way to stop it at this time. Thank you, God Bless and please pray for this individual who feels that lying and cheating innocent people is justifiable.

Happy Feast of the Epiphany!

St Elizabeth Catholic Church 04.11.2020

O Come, Let Us Adore Him! Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Epiphany, or the day the Magi arrive to give homage to the new born king. We don’t know ...much about them but the tradition surrounding their journey should give us some courage. First, their journey was long. They had to travel on foot across the desert in order to reach the Infant King. Often, it can seem that we are on a long and arduous journey to reach our King, in heaven. Along the way, we need to come in contact with situations and challenges that may cause us to think that our journey is worthless. But we need to keep going. Finally, the Magi reach the Infant King and offer Him their gifts. We do the same whenever we give our lives and our gifts to Christ so that, acknowledging Him as Lord, like the Magi, we can kneel down in adoration and give Him the homage he deserves. As always, know of our daily prayers throughout this coming year. #CelebrateChristmasNow

At age 13, St. Elizabeth of Hungary married Prince Louis of Thuringa. Although she was a member of the royal family, she was comfortable most when serving the p...oor and hungry outside the castle walls. No amount of chiding or disapproval from her husband or his family could dissuade her from serving the poorest of God's children. One day, on her way to feed the poor, her husband stopped her and asked to see what she concealed beneath her mantle. The food she carried was miraculously replaced by roses, signifying God's approval of her charity. Click here to see our St. Elizabeth of Hungary collection: https://bit.ly/2Ha4CmX

Praised be Jesus Christ! For better or for worse, a necessity in today’s society is a cell phone. Most of us are reading this right now on a cell phone. We do e...verything with our cell phone; including work, school, and leisure. In order for a cell phone to work, you need to charge it. Therefore, we have a charger in every possible place both at home, in the car, and at work or school. Additionally, when we travel we always have one or multiple with us. We have those battery packs that give us an extra charge while on an airplane. All to keep the light on the cell phone lit. Additionally, we’ve all experienced the time where we forget our charger and our phone dies. This could be very detrimental to our travel because even our plane tickets are on our cell phones! In the Gospel, Christ shows us both the wise and the foolish virgins. The wise virgins bring extra oil with them while the foolish do not. The wise modern person brings his or her charger with them while the foolish do not. In our spiritual life, we always need to charge ourselves and our heart. We need to pray and plug into the life of Christ to keep the lamp in our heart and conscience lit. We do this so that when the bridegroom comes, we will be fully charged and ready to enter into the wedding feast! Let that be our goal, to spiritually charge our self so each day through prayer so that when Christ comes, we can be ready! After such a tumultuous week in our Country, we continue to pray for calm and civility. Please join me in praying for our Nation, and, especially to thank our Veteran’s on November 11. Each one of them served our Country to protect our right to vote and the democratic process. As always, know of my prayers!

"Welcome Home" ... We are thrilled to have all of you come back to Mass this weekend. It will be so great to see you! If you do not feel safe, or have compromising health condition, please stay home. The dispensation from the Mass obligation will remain in place until the green phase. Live streamed Mass is on Fr. Pendzick's page on Facebook, or you can watch it later on this page or the church's web page: www.sercc.org. Just to reiterate some of things discussed previously: ... The only doors that will be open are those on Pershing Boulevard If you do attend Mass this weekend, please wear your mask and maintain social distancing. Pews are marked off and 6 ft intervals are in place in the main aisle. Families may sit together. Restrooms are for emergencies only and the cry room, choir loft, chapel and sacristy are closed to the public. There will be no offertory or sign of peace. There will be no collection during Mass; however, you can place your donation in the basket at the back of the church Communion will be different from what we are used to. Father will explain before Mass begins. Stay Healthy, Stay Safe and God bless you!
