St. George Serbian Orthodox Church 16.11.2020

Metropolitan of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral Mr. Amfilohije passed away this morning. He was born as Risto Radovi, the son of iro and Mi...leva Radovi, on Christmas Day, January 7, 1938, in Bare Radovia in Donja Moraa. He graduated from the Theological Seminary of Saint Sava in Belgrade. He graduated from the Theological Faculty of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade in 1962. In addition to theological sciences, he studied classical philology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. He continued his postgraduate studies in Bern and Rome, and from there he moved to Athens where during his seven-year stay, in addition to his daily parish service, he received his doctorate. After a year on the Holy Mountain, he was invited to teach at the Russian Orthodox Institute "St. Sergius" in Paris from 1974 to 1976, where, in addition to the other five languages he mastered, he also perfected the French language. Mr. Amfilohije became a monk in 1967 in Greece, where he later became a hieromonk on July 21, 1968. Upon his return to Belgrade, he was elected dean of the Faculty of Theology and associate professor, and at the end of 1985 he was ordained bishop of Banat based in Vršac, from where he came to Cetinje on Christmas Eve 1991 when he was enthroned as Metropolitan of Montenegro, Skenderija and Primorje, and Exarch of the Pe throne, taking over the title used by Bishop Vasilije before him. In 1992, he started the newspaper "Svetigora", as well as a wide publishing activity. During 1998, he also founded Radio Svetigora. He taught at the Faculty of Theology, University of Belgrade from 1980 to 2005, when he retired due to obligations. In addition to theology and philosophy, he was engaged in essay writing and translation, encouraged the renovation and construction of a large number of churches and monasteries. -------------------------- Митрополит црногорско-приморски г. Амфилохие преминуо е утрос. Роен е као Ристо Радови, син ира и Милеве Радови, на Божи 7. ануара 1938. године у Барама Радовиа у Доо Морачи. Завршио е Богословиу Светог Саве у Београду. На Богословском факултету СПЦ у Београду дипломирао е 1962. године. Поред теолошких наука, на Филозофском факултету у Београду, студирао е класичну филологиу. Постдипломске студие настава у Берну и Риму. Одатле прелази у Атину, у коо, за време седмогодишег боравка, поред свакодневне парохиске службе, докторира. Потом, годину дана проводи на Свето гори, а онда е позван да предае на Руском православном институту "Свети Сергие" у Паризу од 1974. до 1976, где уз осталих пет езика кое е савладао, усавршава и француски език. Замонашио се 1967. у Грчко, где е потом 21. ула 1968. постао еромонах. По повратку у Београд е изабран за декана Богословског факултета и ванредног професора, да би краем 1985. рукоположен е за епископа банатског са седиштем у Вршцу, одакле е уочи Божиа 1991. године дошао на Цетие када бива устоличен за митрополита црногорско-приморско-скендериско-брдско-зетског и егзарха пеког трона, преузевши титулу коом се прие ега служио владика Василие. Покренуо е 1992. гласило "Светигора", као и широку издавачку активност. Током 1998. покренуо е и Радио Светигора. Предавао е на Богословском факултету Универзитета у Београду од 1980. до 2005, када се повукао због обавеза. Поред теологие и филозофие, бавио се есеистиком и преводилаштвом. Подстакао е обнову и подизае великог броа цркава и манастира. The new mosaics at the Cathedral of St. Sava in Belgrade, the work of Russian mosaic artists, have been completed and the final works in the church interior are... being slowly brought to an end. This huge church is the largest Orthodox Christian Church in Europe and will be the pride of the Serbian people who have been waiting for decades for the church of St. Sava, the founder of the autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church, be finally completed.
