Star Hose Company #1

Star Hose Company No. 1 was dispatched to Sun Valley Road in Annin Township for a wildfire just before 5pm tonight. Upon responding were advised of a fire in the woods threatening a house. Chief 320 arrived and reported about 2 acres not threatening a structure. The Utility and Engine arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. While picking up, County dispatched a second call to Skinner Creek for a smoke investigation. Chief 3 responded to the second call and requested an engine from Roulette Chemical Engine #1 be dispatched due to the call being at the opposite end of the vast coverage area. Units arrived to find a large controlled burn and returned to service.

Early this evening the Star Hose Company No. 1 and Port Area Ambulance Service were dispatched to a wooded area off Route 155 near Two Mile Road for a rescue of a hunter who had fallen from his tree stand. Chief 3 and the Rescue responded and arrived on scene quickly. Firefighters carried rescue and medical equipment on foot and found the patient who was still on the phone with 911, helping to direct rescuers to his location. PAFD members began care and packaged the patient in a stokes basket to carry him to the awaiting ambulance. The Squad responded to a field on Two Mile Road to establish a landing zone for Mercy Flight helicopter.

This week is National Fire Prevention Week. Since we are unable to visit the area schools, daycares, and other groups, Chief Johnson and Assistant Chief Ernst partnered with Mrs. Kari Johnson and the Port Allegany School District to prepare a virtual Fire Safety lesson to be shared in the classroom and at home. ***WORKING FIRE*** The Rescue, Squad, and Tanker are currently operating at a second alarm fire with Smethport Fire Department Inc. in Keating Township while a transfer unit from Roulette Chemical Engine #1 is handling a gas leak in Liberty Township.

***WORKING FIRE*** At 18:26 hours, Box 3-2 was dispatched for a house fire on Arnold Ave in the Borough. Chief 3 arrived on scene at the time of dispatch and reported a 3 story home with smoke showing. The Engine arrived quickly, secured their own water supply and began fire attack on the second floor. The Squad laid in from a second hydrant and sent crews to check for extension on other floors. Command then requested the first alarm be filled for a working fire, bringing units from Roulette, Smethport, and Coudersport to the scene to assist. Fire was found on the first and second floors and extensive overhaul was needed. Crews were on scene for nearly 3 hours before returning to quarters.

***WORKING FIRE*** Just before noon today the Rescue Company was dispatched with Smethport Fire Department Inc. on Box 2-2 for a building fire on Water Street in Smethport Borough. Rescue 3 arrived as the first due special service and was assigned to assist with fire attack. The crew then split to perform vertical ventilation.
