Taking a moment to offer my prayers, condolences, and to salute the life of Public Servant Ron Donatucci who served in the positions of State Representative and Register of Wills, and as Chair of such Boards as Will Eye Hospital and Girard College. I’ve worked with a lot of people in politics but he was amongst the rare few I considered as a friend. He never switched up on me. He never played tricky political games. He was always straight up and always had my back even when it cost him some grief. Thanks for the support my friend and may you rest well. Job well done.
I want to thank all Philadelphians for voting overwhelmingly to approve Ballot Question #2, which will create a new Office of Victim Advocate in Philadelphia. Thank you for supporting the mothers, fathers and families who have lost loved ones to gun violence in recent years by approving the Office. I put this question on the ballot for them. Thank you to the many city leaders who supported passage of Ballot Question #2: Dr. Dorothy Johnson-Speight, Founder/National Executive ...Director of Mothers In Charge, Inc.; Aleida Garcia, co-founder, National Homicide Justice Alliance; Chantay Love, Program Director of E.M.I.R. (Every Murder is Real) Healing Center; Stanley Crawford, leader of Black Male Community Council of Philadelphia; Felicia Pendleton, Founder, Mothers United By Angels; Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner; all members of Philadelphia City Council and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney. I will now work with the Kenney Administration to fund the office, find it a home, select the new Victim Advocate, and assemble an advisory board of citizens to help guide the work of the Victim Advocate. Our hope is the new office will be up and running by the middle of 2021. The new Philadelphia Office of Victim Advocate will be separate from the Pennsylvania Victim Advocate Office. If the public has suggestions for the soon-to-be Philadelphia Office of Victims Advocate, email them to my office via https://phlcouncil.com/kenyattajohnson/

So far, I have been impressed with the voter turnout in my 36th Democratic Ward because the way Philadelphia votes pretty much carries the state of Pennsylvania in any state election. The 36th Ward covers the neighborhoods of Grays Ferry and Point Breeze in Philadelphia. I am also grateful to see a significant amount of young voters at the polls.... The polls are open until 8 p.m. Please make sure you vote and get one of the new I voted stickers for today.
Help us ensure a safe and smooth election. If you see aggressive behavior, voter intimidation, or possible attempts to interfere with voting in Philadelphia today, contact the Philadelphia District Attorney's Election Task Force hotline: 2156869641.
