Our Wellness & Safety Policy Due to COVID 19, Dr. Fishbaine’s dental office is currently limiting our EMERGENCY TIMES FOR ESTABLISHED PATIENTS ONLY. For our pat...ients’ and team’s safety, any patients that have traveled to any hotspot area or have any possible symptoms of COVID 19 are asked to wait 14 days before coming to our office. If there are appointment openings, new patients committing to long-term routine care can be scheduled for comprehensive exams 3-4 weeks in advance. We are practicing extreme infection control and virus control (including Fogging the air to deactivate viruses between every patient). We are here for our patients for all of your dental care, including routine care to prevent future dental needs. This policy is to assure our patients of our commitment to you and your safety. Stay Well, Steve and Penni Fishbaine See more

Free ZOOM whitening kits to the first 5 regular ZOOM using patients to call. You must be a regular patient of record who has bought ZOOM from us in the past. Due to our closing during Covid 19, we have ZOOM whitening kits on the shelf that are to expire in August. These are still effective past the date of expiration. Call 814-238-6800 to reserve your kit!

Dear Patients, Thank you for your patience while we juggled appointments based on the latest COVID 19 guidelines. We did our best to accommodate those patients in pain and with dental issues throughout the shutdown. Now, we can be here for you full time. If you need to be rescheduled from a past postponed appointment or just need to schedule, please call. Our new protocol dictates mask-wearing in and out of the office for patients (all staff members wear masks throughout... the office), temperature taking, new one-way directional walking around the office, 6 foot social distancing, HEPA filter air purifiers with UV light in each clinical room, a Hypochlorous acid FOGGER to deactivate viruses and disinfect the air between patients, all touchable surfaces are wiped with disinfectant, and appropriate PPE is worn by our clinical staff. The logistics of doing dental procedures in this new era are formidable. Our staff have participated in many webinars to learn the best ways to safeguard you and us, and I can assure you we have meticulously considered every step of every procedure and ways to reduce risk. This has meant figuring out ways to not open drawers (where aerosol could settle) during procedures. We anticipate our needs for supplies and have an employee act as a rover to get needed items to the staff in treatment rooms during procedures. We even FOG ourselves as well as all rooms between patients. Thank you for trusting us with your care. You are an important part of our dental family, and the Fishbaine dental team is committed to keeping you safe. We look forward to seeing you back in the office and as always will take excellent care of you. Be well, Steve Fishbaine, DDS See more

Greetings All, I am writing today to bring you all up to speed on the ever-changing directives issued by the PA Department of Health as they pertain to dentistry in our state. On Friday, May 15, in a clarification of a vaguely worded document released on May 8, 2020, the DOH stated that cleanings for low risk patients should not be performed at this time. However, cleanings may be done in situations in which there is clear clinical need, as part of a larger medical treatme...nt plan. For example, if a patient needs to have a cleaning to be medically cleared prior to planned surgery, or if a patient is periodontally compromised (to prevent irreversible damage). Unfortunately, that leaves many of you unable to have preventive treatment with a dental hygienist which is the standard of care we have all come to expect in the age of modern dentistry. However, some of you should still continue your preventive therapy at the risk of worsening periodontal disease (ex. bone loss, gum recession, excessive tarter build-up with associated inflammation). Cumulatively, my staff and I have completed hours and hours of online dental webinars during the past six weeks presented by some of the foremost experts in infectious disease in the world. We decided that we would provide hygiene care to our patients that are periodontally compromised, without generating any aerosols, which is a concern with airborne infections, by limiting our treatment to the scaling of teeth with hand instruments in the presence of intraoral high-speed evacuation systems where needed. We learned along the way how to protect ourselves and our patients if, in fact, someone with the virus enters our office. We had multiple ZOOM meetings together as well as in-office meetings to initiate our new protocols to address the possibility of airborne pathogens. We are diligently screening ourselves and our patients daily. We’ve installed air purifiers with HEPA filtration and UV light in every treatment room. We are fogging all operatories with hypochlorous acid immediately after patient visits. We are wearing PPE as prescribed by experts. And we are fastidious with hand and personal gear hygiene. We have done as much as feasibly possible to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. And, yet, the DOH persists in its dictatorial directives and treats every county in the state as if it’s the epicenter of the pandemic. Though I fully understand the need for caution, I wanted to reassure you once again that when more practical guidance resurfaces, we are well-prepared to provide safe preventive dental care at this chaotic time of our lives. Best as always, Dr. Steve Fishbaine See more

Dear Patients, We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same - our commitment to your safety. Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are ma...de so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current, adhere to each agencies’ recommendations, and protect those we care about, including you. You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example: Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office. You must wear a mask or mouth cover to our office. Your temperature will be taken before entering the dental office. We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed. You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. All staff will wear masks. Clinical staff will wear face shields and N-95 masks along with our normal infection control requirements (gloves and gowns). Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment. We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time. If you are 10 minutes late for an appointment, you will be asked to reschedule. Unfortunately, there will be a $10 additional fee per patient visit to help cover our COVID-19 Protection Plan. We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 814-238-6800 or visit our website at www.statecollegedentist.com. Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends. Sincerely, Steve Fishbaine, DDS and your dental team See more

In case you don't understand why we can't be open for emergencies, read the following and understand ONLY hospitals have N95 masks and negative pressure isolation rooms with HEPA filtration. We risk losing our dental license if we see an emergency patient. If anyone has had tooth pain, you know how awful that is. See below-Member Alert DOH Issues New COVID-19 Guidance March 23, 2020 PDA Members, On March 22, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) released new gui...dance stating that dental facilities and offices must close immediately, even for emergencies, if they do not have all of the following protective equipment and protocol in place: All personnel must follow proper protocol when donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE). All personnel must use N95 masks or higher; goggles or a face-shield covering face and sides; disposable gowns and gloves. Treatment must be provided in negative pressure isolation rooms with HEPA filtration. DOH did not consult with PDA prior to releasing its guidance. We are now working with the deans of Pennsylvania's dental schools and have already communicated our concerns to DOH and asked for clarification on a number of issues that now arise because of this new guidance. PDA remains hopeful that we will be able to work with DOH to provide you with more information as soon as possible. If you have questions about this DOH guidance, please contact [email protected]. In addition, we will be consulting with PDA legal counsel today to see what options we may pursue. PDA will continue to be a trusted resource for information in the days ahead. We continue to update PDA members with all dental-related coronavirus developments via our PDA Go mobile app, with a comprehensive COVID-19 resources tab and a COVID-19 forum. If you have not yet downloaded PDA Go, please do so today to take advantage of these excellent resources. We encourage you to post all coronavirus-related questions on the PDA Go forum. It is a great way for the entire membership to seek answers as we work through this, together. We also have continuing updates on our website at www.padental.org/covid19 as well as our PDA Facebook page and Twitter feed. See more

Update (3/23/20 morning) According to the PA Department of Health, all dental offices are to close even for emergencies. If you have a dental emergency and are in pain, you may call your doctor or go to the Emergency Room at MNMC. Physicians and ERs are not equipped to treat dental emergencies, but we are NOT authorized to open. Please call the Department Of Health at 717-787-9857 or email [email protected] if you have concerns about the DOH policy. For dental concerns, you may leave a message at our office, 814-238-6800. We regret that we can not treat your dental emergencies because of the DOH mandate.

In an effort to support national efforts to fight the COVID- 19 pandemic, our practice is taking the following steps to help assure your health and well-being and that of our community: We are following directives from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a way to limit patient and staff exposure to this virus. Your health, and the health of our dedicated staff, matters to us, so going forward we will suspend all non-emergency, non-priority care for a ...period of time yet to be determined. Patients will be seen for urgent and emergency dental needs. We will contact you soon to reschedule routine hygiene appointments. If you are already scheduled for an urgent issue, we will contact you before your appointment to discuss your health status, health screening protocols and confirm whether the appointment should be kept. Of course, please call us right away if you have a dental emergency, need immediate care, or would like to reschedule an appointment. The safety and well-being of our patients continues to be our primary concern. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 nationally and within our community and keep you up-to-date regarding our plans to reopen for business as usual. I urge you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We can be reached by phone at 814-238-6800 or by email to [email protected] and will respond as soon as we can. Thank you and be well.
