Yesterday, our Preschool class shared their helpful suggestions for our new President and Vice President including make the country safe for everyone and take care of your pets. We all can get behind their ideas. We can’t wait to see what these little citizens will accomplish as they become tomorrow’s leaders. #earlychildhoodeducation #SEACoreValues
Today, our school nurse received her first round of the COVID-19 vaccination. Nurse Meghan has been working tirelessly to keep our community safe! Thank you for all you do for us.
On this historic Inauguration Day of our 46th President of the United States, Joseph R. Biden, and Vice-President Kamala Harris, we reflect on our #corevalue, the worthiness of service to others. As our new elected leaders begin their service to our country, our students and teachers are watching the live feed of the Inauguration and reflecting on what it represents for our country, our community, and even our school. Ms. Hatridge, Upper School English Faculty, sports her wh...ite power suit, a nod to Vice President Harris and the women’s suffrage movement. Mr. May, Upper School History teacher, guides his class through discussions on how this year’s Inauguration activities might differ from year’s past due to COVID and the assault on our U.S. Capital two weeks ago. Lower School student, Alexis P. ’28, is wearing pearls in solidarity with Vice President Harris and female empowerment. Lower School students watch An Inaugural Celebration for Young Americans with Keke Palmer and Kindergarten students listen to Superheroes Are Everywhere, a children’s book authored by Vice President Harris. Thank you to our teachers for cultivating a generation of thoughtful and engaged citizens.
We’re thrilled for our Upper School PE faculty member, Coach B., on this incredible recognition of her hard work. Way to to, Jimyse Brown!
We have some new additions to the SEA campus! Beginning today, our students will enjoy their lunch outside in these ventilated outdoor dining tents. After a break away from campus, we’re grateful to bring our students back with these additional risk mitigation protocols in place. #SEA
Today, in a period of grief and unease, we honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at St. Edmund's Academy, and reflect on his legacy with pressing urgency. In recognition of Black History Month this year, SEA commits to "45 Days Beyond MLK" to honor Dr. King's legacy of making the U.S. and the world more just, more equal, and more loving. To learn more about our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our daily school life, visit our website to read about the integration of the Pollyanna Racial Literacy Curriculum in every grade level, the launch of student organizations like Black Student Union (BSU) and Asian American Alliance, and our ongoing professional development of anti-racist pedagogy for our faculty and staff.
Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'" (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 1957) Today, and every day, we remember Dr. King's words, his work, and his call to uphold the #CoreValue of the worthiness of service to others. Visit our St. Edmund's Academy Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion website for ways to serve our community - and honor Dr. King's legacy - during today's national #dayofservice. https://www.stedmunds.net/ab/diversity-equity-and-inclusion
A highlight of our Chapel Service is the naming of a girl or boy in grades five through eight as lead student for the coming week. Recognition is given to one who, through word and deed, exemplifies the values for which St. Edmund’s Academy stands. Chosen this week is Libby D. ’23. Libby, all your teachers agree that you are an excellent fit for the lead student this week. Those who see you in class or in the hallways note your caring, patient, and playful personality. At the... same time, you are an enthusiastic leader, who advocates for your classmates. You care about others’ opinions, but you don’t shy away from making independent decisions. While it is not always easy to balance extracurricular activities with academics, you never fail to go the extra mile, like when you volunteered in the mock election or offered to set up classroom technology. Your extra effort is appreciated by your teachers and is just one of the many ways you embrace the core values daily. You are just delightful! In these challenging times you stay on track with all aspects of your learning, and the mask cannot hide the bright smile you offer to friends and teachers. Even while participating in SEA@Home, you have maintained a clear head and astute awareness for various activities and the daily schedule. In fact, your teachers can depend on you to offer polite reminders and keep the class on schedule. It is without a doubt that your fortitude, poise, and kind nature not only make St. Edmund’s community a better place, but it will also undoubtedly serve you well in the future. For these and all of your other positive qualities, we name you Lead Student for the week.

We were honored to welcome Wasi Mohamed as our Chapel Speaker today. Mr. Mohamed is a senior policy officer at The Pittsburgh Foundation, and the former Executive Director of the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh. Mr. Mohamed spoke on the #SEACoreValue of the central role of honesty in all relationships. He reminded us of the cost of being dishonest, saying You’ll never lose a friend that you should have by being honest with them. But you’ll lose a lot of friends by being dishon...est. Thank you, Mr. Mohamed! #SEAChapelTalk #SEACoreValues
Our 1st Graders had their Pizza and Pajamas party yesterday to celebrate being one of the classes with 100% family participation on our #SEAGivingDay! The warm weather meant that the party could be outside and socially distant, and it also allowed for the 1st Grade virtual students to join us on campus! #SEAlovesSQH
Happy Veterans Day! We're grateful to all Veterans, today and every day, who carry out the #SEACoreValue of the worthiness of service to others. Thank you. #VeteransDay2020
