Happy Memorial Day!! Just a quick update to say that we are still waiting to see if the Conductors will be able to obtain visas in order to work here this summer. Our very dedicated partner, the Moira Centre, is ready to go whenever the offices start processing again!! We will make a final decision the week of June 8th if we haven’t received word from our visa sponsor by that point. If you have any questions, please email or call. Thanks so much for your patience!!

Just a quick update to let everyone know that we are still planning to have our summer program, if possible. Right now, the ban on travel and also the US not processing visas for temporary work are the biggest holdups. Nora and Agnes are ready to return this summer and want to work with our children again. After being cooped up for so long, summer camp will be fantastic!!! So please be patient, stay safe and reach out with any questions you may have. Sorry that there are not concrete answers right now but as we all know, things are changing daily. In a few weeks, I hope things are much clearer!!

What is Conductive Education: Conductive Education combines physical and cognitive learning, through active participation and repetition needed for the students to make the connections to learn skills. By repeating tasks and integrating intentional movement with learning, the brain creates alternate paths to send messages to muscle groups, creating the desired movements. Through this, a child can gain movement and skills, and achieve greater levels of independence.... The program’s daily routines are tailored to develop new skills and help improve gross motor and fine skills. It will also target physical and social independence. What Steps to Independence offers: A 6-week, daily, intensive summer program from July 1 - Aug 9. A 3-hour morning session for younger children and a 4-hour afternoon session for older children. Registration is open Registration forms are available at www.stepstoindependence.org We work with a variety of school districts to offer this program to their students for Extended School Year (ESY) purposes. ESY conversations are starting at many school districts. Keep in mind - we work with many districts and are always happy to talk with new disctricts about our program and how it may be the best option for your child during the summer. Stay warm!!
