Frank J. Berger Oct. 23, 1937-Feb. 1, 2021 Frank J. Berger, 83, Altoona, passed away Monday at Maybrook Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Frank X. and Josephine (Dietrich) Berger. Frank married Eleanor Ann Lytle on Jan. 9, 1965.... Frank is survived by his wife of 56 years; his children: Frank C. (Shyloah) Berger of North Port, FL, John D. Berger of Altoona, Mary Ellen Berger of Houston, TX and Nancy Berger of Orlando, FL; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kazes. Frank was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School, he then joined the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Conrail and was a former member of the German American Veterans Club. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Frank's memory be made to, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Altoona. To arrange for masses, contact St. Mary’s Rectory. James L. "Jim" Farabaugh January 21, 1948-January 29, 2021 James L. Jim Farabaugh, 73, Carrolltown passed away January 29, 2021 at home as Marcy was holding his hand. He was born January 21, 1948 in Spangler, the son of Leo G. and Hilda (Westrick) Farabaugh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Donald and brother-in-law Patrick Kelly. He is survived by his loving wife Marcy (Weiland) Farabaugh, whom he married November 3, 1973; children: Jeremy... married to Kristen Janesko, Harrison City, PA; Matthew married to Shannon Eckenrode, Nicktown; grandchildren Gavin, Hayden, Owen and Ava; brothers and sisters: Barbara Kelly, Gettysburg; Bernard (Muriel) Farabaugh, Carrolltown; Ken (Norma) Farabaugh, Carrolltown; Janet Tibbott, Northern Cambria; Kathryn (Roger) Duman, Ebensburg; Girard (Jean) Farabaugh, Carrolltown; sister-in-law Arlene (Joe) Karlheim and many loving and supportive nieces and nephews. At a young age Jim worked on the family farm. When he was old enough he went into landscaping and excavating for Clete Bopp Construction. He also worked as a logger for Amadei Lumber Company, a tractor trailer driver for Farabaugh Farms and retired from his farm where he raised livestock, potatoes, cabbage and grain. He enjoyed many recreational activities, playing cinch, golfing, horseshoes, gardening and hunting. He was a member of Colver Sportsmen’s Dart Team where he helped win numerous league championships over a span of 40 years. He got his sons involved in 4-H and was instrumental in forming the Cloverleaf County Bred Junior Cattlemen’s Club. His friends still talk of how he fought the Gorilla at the Cambria County Fair in 1968. Jim loved to travel and visited all 50 states. His last memorable trip was to Rome, Italy. He was known to many of his friends as Traveling Jim. Jim never failed to speak his mind, especially on his views on politics and his Catholic Faith. He lived life to the fullest, but being a Pappy to his four loving grandchildren was his greatest joy. Hunting, fishing and taking Gavin to auctions with him, playing catch and rooting for Hayden at her softball games, watching football and fishing with Owie, and his little Princess Ava who always got him whatever he needed. Friends will be received Thursday from 9:30 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown by Rev. Jude W. Brady, OSB. Interment church cemetery. Paul E. Amick June 28, 1936 January 31, 2021 Paul E. Amick, 84, Altoona, passed away Sunday at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Kenneth and Lavina (Hollinger) Amick. On June 15, 1957, he married Judith Moyer who preceded him in death on October 8, 2003. Surviving are three daughters: Pamela Davis (Ron) of Flinton, Tina Rhodes (Daryl) of Claysburg and Brenda Graham (Brian) of Altoona; six grandchildren: Heather ...Dudley (Myles), Nicole Rhodes, Brittany Charles (Jonathan), Stephanie Barlow (Joseph), Ariel Catlin (Christopher) and Samantha Graham (fiancé Willis Holden; ten great-grandchildren: Reagan, Blake, Bryson, Makenna, Harper, Madelyn, Bennett, McKinley, Landon and the youngest, his little buddy, Maddox; special friend, Pat Sankey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers: Donald, Gary and Robert Amick; and two sisters: Irma Jean Gaylor and Delores Amick. Paul worked in auto repair for many years and retired as owner and operator of Paul’s Auto Service after 40 years of service. He enjoyed working with electronics, listening to music, traveling and most especially, spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 4-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at E. Connie is survived by her 4 children, Stephen Zeak, Monica (Bernard) Lyons, Claudia (David) Beeney and Matthew Zeak, 3 grandchildren: Maryann, Karen and Michael and a sister Bernice Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband, a granddaughter and 3 sisters. Connie was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
