Located directly over the bridge to the island, along Rio Grande Blvd., we aimed to create a welcoming entrance to the Wildwoods. The 28 foot tall surfboard sign can be seen day or night from the top of the bridge to all motorists entering the city. An equally tall wave sign across the intersection emerges from a field of "beach ball" bollards and informs the visitors with an electronic display board. This project is part of a county road improvement project, which raised the main roadway into the city in order to prevent flooding of the road. Our design continues the beach ball theme of the Wildwoods, which we first implemented with the design of the Wildwoods Gateway Plaza where Rio Grande Blvd. meets the boardwalk. @ Wildwood NJ shore

We’d heard a lot about the tile flooring, various stories, actually, and it became a bit of folklore to us, said Lance Saunders, Stokes’ director of design. Was it there? If so, was it a match to what’s visible currently in the host vestibule? Was it covered up by a layer of concrete beneath the existing carpet? Tyler and I dove into the archives at the Hagley Museum, but we hadn’t found any photographic evidence of it there either. Finally, we uncovered a solid hint in a local story from the grand opening back in 1913 noting the marble mosaic and terrazzo floor. And then we just crossed our fingers that when the carpet came up, it was all still intact. Luckily for us, it was. And it’s a stunner. (@phillydotcom)

New Stokes Ground Up Project!!! The project was conceived as an economic development project at the Cape May County Airport, where tech firms could rent space for both offices and manufacturing. The first tenant, Cellular Tracking Technologies, makes tracking devices for birds. (Cape May is a major stopover for migrating birds) The design of the building was inspired by the historic airplane hangers dating back to when the airport was a Naval Air Station, in World War ll. We designed the buildings as all wood, as the originals were, which also doesn’t block cellular signals. The front facade is all glass, but has a frit pattern to make it bird friendly. #freshlymade @ Cape May Airport

Renderings! Can't wait to show you the real thing! These are the bedrooms for a Jersey Shore cottage we have been working on. We designed the exterior of the cottage to blend in with its neighbors, but we were given a bit more free range for the interior. While we did not want a complete divide in style from the interior to the exterior, we did want the interior to feel slightly more progressive and hip. So we chose neutral background materials that align with the exterior coastal vibes (white painted lap siding, pale white oak). Then we designed modern, built-in oak furniture, added a few pops of color, and threw in some nice Noguchi lamps for good measure @ Cape May, New Jersey
