The districts statement regarding the on going contract negotiations. I fully support this statement.

Meeting announcements are posted on the doors of our schools, updated on the website, and also advertised in the paper. Lots of parents ask me about the dates of meetings, so I'll try hard to share here as well. Committee meetings are public, less formal than general board meetings and a WONDERFUL opportunity for engagement between the board, community, and staff. ... I encourage you to attend and join the conversations because your input matters.

Trigger warning- Officer Shaw and New Kensington and being a mom and everything we’re going through as a community. . . .... . . . . . . . . . . . . It’s hard to find words to describe the extraordinary emotions a community experiences associated with gun violence. I have to work so I was unable to take my children today. We haven’t spoken about it, either. We’ve talked about Trayvon. I say their names to my children. We constantly talk about racism and how to identify it because my job as a white mother is to make my children better than me. It’s my responsibility to understand that not all mothers are able to teach their children the way I do. I have a privilege. My children do not understand fear because we are privileged. My son understands the jobs of our law enforcement officers. They protect and serve. They keep us safe, their jobs are dangerous and we respect the officers and their families for their sacrifices. WE can ask an officer for help. WE do not need to be afraid. We heard the sirens all morning, I live across from the high school and we watched the endless line of flashing lights from my kitchen window. Johnnie didn’t ask any questions. And all I said was that a police officer was killed. When I go home I’ll dig past my privilege and explain to my son that another life was taken. Another notch was added to America’s score card. The fight continues to take another, the fight continues to destroy families. And we continue to allow hatred to drive. I have no emotional or personal ties to law enforcement, I feel this hard though and I’m looking for the helpers, and the helpers are dying too. I won’t tell my children to look for the helpers. I will tell them that this is what happens when we as an entire world of people forget how to look in the mirror, we forget empathy, and we forget how much hate we carry. I’m a mother with white children and this is my fault. If you’re struggling the way I am, from a unique disassociated perspective, understand that it’s our job to do better. It will not stop until we show our children how to stop it. I’m holding our neighbors in my heart and feeling completely useless. I hope we ... you... find peace after today.
