She was eleven years old. Emilee was a beautiful inside and out always thinking of others, she lit up every room she walked into. Despite all she went through Emilee never complained but instead found joy and wonder in every day. She brought hope and inspiration to so many.Her family miss her so... much, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Emilee is forever their hero, Another beautiful child taken far too early by dipg, we must do better. She was just 16 years old Please keep her family, friends, and everyone who loved her in your prayers From her Family: My most remarkable and beautiful and funny and smart and witty and compassionate and courageous daughter Sophia Marie Varney passed away today in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her mother and I at her side. Just like she came into this world. Her medical team in the PICU was so compassionate. She died peacefully. Two years ago today, she was diagnosed with DIPG, which was a devastating blow to our family. She outlived the life expectancy by 15 months. Her grit and determination and will to live was humbling to watch. Her experience living with DIPG and being involved in clinical trials with scientists and doctors who are trying to find a cure will promote the cure for this rare type of pediatric brain cancer. I can’t thank you all enough for supporting our family through this time. I’d guess we all will have a little #sophiestrong in our hearts forever. At least that’s what I told her.
