Hello Parents of 8th Grade Students, Please see the important information below from Mr. Dinney (High School House Principal) regarding the virtual 9th Grade Orientation that will be held on Thursday, January 14th from 5:30 7:30PM. The link to the orientation will be sent out closer to the date of the event. In addition, students who are interested in attending the Upper Bucks County Technical School (UBCTS) in 9th grade need to complete the online application. You are about to embark on a memorable journey together. While the look and feel of the 2020-2021 school year has been vastly different than previous years, you are about to walk the hallowed halls of what will be a memorable experience. We are excited to welcome you to our school. On January 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 we will have a 9th Grade Orientation to officially welcome the Class of 2025 and their families. Prior to the meeting, a website will be shared with families showcasing the courses and teachers their students will encounter. At the conclusion of a brief presentation, parents will have opportunities to meet and speak with teachers in breakout rooms. The staff is here to help in any way possible. Thanks to the generous donation of gloves from the United Way of Bucks County, our students in Mrs. Clymer's 8th-grade science class were able to build molecular models using hands-on materials without the fear of cross-contamination. In these pictures, our students are hard at work attempting to build a neopentane molecular model.

Last winter, two of our 8th grade science teachers (Mrs. Laguna and Mrs. Clymer) attended a professional development session at the #iSTEAMM Conference and entered into a raffle to win $5,000. Well, luck was on their side and they won the $5,000 prize for STEM education at Strayer Middle School! We want to thank the United Way of Bucks County for their generosity and support! While there may be some obstacles in the way with our current pandemic, the science teachers are interested in using the funds to help students design and construct a bird blind at Strayer in order to take advantage of the wildlife area on site.

Due to a staffing shortage, Strayer will move to virtual instruction for the day today, November 25, 2020. Students are expected to connect with their classes via Canvas. Please note that due to the staffing shortage some classes will be asynchronous today. Teachers and staff who are not absent will report to Strayer to teach remotely from their classrooms. Teachers will be posting Google Meet links on their Get Started pages by 8:00AM. Students are expected to participate in the Google Meets for Periods 1, 2,4, and 6. We will operate on the current Bell Schedule and today is Day 2.
