Summit Staff Shoutout I had no idea before working at Summit how much I could have in common with a group of eleven year olds. I didn’t expect to share meaningful moments of connection with people I had known for such a short period of time, but Summit exceeded my expectations in so many ways. The staff welcomed and supported me at every turn, and the campers brought joy and a fresh perspective to the challenges. This experience was an education in patience, community, and compassion that I didn’t know that I needed. Last summer, Summit introduced a new program geared specifically towards our participants 18 through 23 years of age whom are working on independent living skills: The Center at Summit. The Summit Center program is a full time, 7 week residential program located at our campus in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Summit also offers a Mini Center experience at the end of the camp season, for 2 weeks in late August. Participants in this program are working on skills important to the transition to early adulthood. And these amazing brand new dorm style buildings were built just for this program! Something I can truly say I will never forget is Summit Camp, it brought me so much life and energy. I love being a counselor, a leader, and a mentor to my campers. I really felt the magic on the hill and love every moment of it. The campers and summit staff really put a huge impact on my life in one of the greatest ways possible. It was a wonderful opportunity and a great memory. I’m so grateful to have been chosen to work here, meet wonderful new people, and last but certainly not least meet my wonderful, outstanding campers.
