Just a reminder to keep all important possessions out of your vehicles and to secure them at all times. Many vehicles have been broken into on the hill section in recent days. If you have any information regarding vehicle thefts and damage, please contact the Sunbury police department.

According to city ordinance, snow/ice removal from sidewalks is required to be done within 24 hours after the snowfall stops. When snow accumulation is 12 inch...es or more, a path is required within 24 hours and the rest of the snow/ice removed within 48 hours. Because of the extraordinary snowfall amount, the City has not been enforcing the ordinance giving property owners extra time. However, warnings were issued on Monday (4 days after the snowfall stopped). Tickets are going to be issued tomorrow at properties where snow/ice has not been removed. Tickets are $25.

We are now in the recovery phase of the snow emergency event. Overnight last night combined DPW/SMA snow removal crews cleared the following: - Fairmount Ave ...from Market to Reagan - Catawissa Ave all of it - 5th Street between Market and Chestnut - All of 4th St from south end at SMA to Turkey Hill on N 4th - 2nd St between Chestnut and Arch - DPW subcontracted 2 triaxles to move the large volume Moving forward - No snow removal tonight crews are exhausted, equipment needs maintenance; flipping to day operations on Monday - SMA personnel return to SMA duties. - Monday maintenance of equipment; garbage pickup; will put down salt and push snow as able. - Tuesday plan to remove snow the rest of 2nd & Wolverton - Wednesday plan to remove snow on Susquehanna Ave

NOTICE: Snow removal scheduled for CATAWISSA Avenue, FAIRMOUNT Avenue, and FOURTH street TONIGHT, Saturday Dec 19, starting at 11 pm. All vehicles must be removed before 11 pm or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.

NOTICE: Snow removal tonight on Arch, Walnut, and Chestnut Streets starting at 11 pm. Vehicles must be removed from these streets before 11 pm. A police offi...cer will patrol these streets at approximately 9 pm to announce over loud speaker to move vehicles. If not moved, these cars will be towed at the owner's expense. See more
