Subj: Snow Emergency Routes / Procedures The forecast for Wednesday / Thursday of this week continues to include the potential for a significant amount of snow. I thought it would be a good time to remind everyone of our Snow Emergency Routes and the procedures for what to do when a Snow Emergency is declared. Here in Tatamy, we have established a policy of "curb to curb plowing". This ensures that, unlike in other municipalities, when we are finished plowing, there are no... "dug out spaces". All the roads will eventually be plowed curb to curb. In order to accomplish this goal, we have established dedicated snow emergency routes, which are identified in the graphics below. When a Snow Emergency is declared, parking is prohibited and all vehicles must be relocated to the side streets. All vehicles remaining on Snow Emergency Routes after an emergency is declared will be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense. Once we have finished clearing the primary Snow Emergency Routes, the emergency is lifted and residents will be asked to move their cars from the side streets so they too can be cleared curb to curb. Snow Emergency Announcements will be posted here on our official social media sites, on our webpage (tatamypa.com), via our Nixle alerting system, and on WFMZ Channel 69. A reminder for our new residents along Chief Tatamy and Messinger Streets in the Tatamy Farms subdivision ... until that development is complete and the roads are dedicated to the Borough, they are considered private roads and we will not be plowing or salting. That responsibility belongs to the developer. One final request ... if there's a fire hydrant near your home, we ask that you help our Fire Company and clear the snow away from those hydrants. This will save valuable time should those hydrants be needed in an emergency. We thank you all in advance for your cooperation.
