Hi all!! I’m Syd Meyer and I’m the Digital Marketing Coordinator this year for BLSA. I came to Temple straight from undergrad at Villanova where I studied political science, criminology and Arabic. I enjoy studying languages and have experience with Spanish, Italian and Latin as well. I spent this summer working with the Clean Air Council (Philadelphia’s oldest environmental nonprofit!) and I will be working with the Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity this fall. I’m not sure what area of law I’ll end up in - all I know is I want to help people and feel happy in whatever I’m doing. In my free time I enjoy playing piano, watching Harry Potter or dreaming of travel destinations. I am so excited to be more involved with BLSA this year and meet our incoming students!! Please help us in welcoming our radiant Community Outreach Coordinator, Cydney Murray!! "Hi! My name's Cydney and I'm a 2L day student. I graduated from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2017 with a Public Health degree and my practice area of interest is public health law with a focus on reproductive justice. Before law school, I spent two years working at an immigration law firm in South Jersey. I'm pleased to serve as BLSA's Community Outreach Coordinator this academic year. BLSA truly enriched my 1L experience and I'm so excited to help create a similar experience for the incoming class of '23/'24. My free time is usually split between my friends and family, and my Switch." Reach out to Cydney @cydnay27

Please welcome our magnificent Fundraising Chair for the upcoming year, Cheyenne Desamour!! I am a 2L from New Jersey. I completed my undergrad at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Prior to Law school I worked for the New Jersey State Bar Association. This summer I worked for Wisler Pearlstine, LLP in Montgomery County. After law school I plan on going into transactional law. When I am not studying, I enjoy reading, watching sports, particularly basketball and football, traveling, and listening to spoken word. I look forward to meeting everyone this school year! Introducing the lovely Ashley Hyman, BLSA’s Recording Secretary for the upcoming year!! Hey y’all! I’m Ashley, a rising 2L and this year’s BLSA Recording Secretary. I currently have an interest in various areas of law, but I have a deep passion for immigration law that is influenced by my Jamaican background . I’m a Philly native and self-proclaimed foodie! I love checking out new restaurants, binge watching my favorite shows, and shopping at Trader Joe’s! I am super excited to welcome all our new and returning BLSA members. BLSA has been a huge support for me over the last year and with today’s climate having a strong, supportive community is that much more important. We have big plans this year and I can’t wait to meet you all! Reach out to Ashley @_asshleyyyyy

We lucked out when the inspiring and wonderful Bianca Evans agreed to be our Corresponding Secretary this year!! Hi everyone! My name is Bianca Evans. I am currently a rising 2L and will be the Corresponding Secretary for BLSA this year. I am originally from Montco, PA. I am an alumna of Univ. of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!), where I studied Criminal Justice with a minor in African-American Studies. My legal interests include criminal law, specifically government inv...estigations, national security, cybercrime, and e-discovery. Before Temple Law, I worked as a paralegal at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, DC, for three years in the Cybercrime Unit. My experiences assisting as a paralegal at the Department of Justice are what drove me to apply to law school. I spent my 1L summer first working as a summer intern at Dilworth Paxson LLP and then as a Research Assistant for Prof. Sara Jacobson. I am looking forward to this year, especially working as Corresponding Secretary for BLSA. My hope is that we, as an organization, can continue to celebrate, but also educate our peers on Black culture, specifically within the law. When I am not in the library, I can usually be found in front of the TV re-watching old episodes of Forensic Files or Unsolved Mysteries with my boyfriend and my two cats (Snickles and Stormy D).
