Starting in January 2021, USCIS will replace the sticker that is currently issued to lawful permanent residents (LPRs) to extend the validity of their Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card (PRC or Green Card) with a revised Form I-797, Notice of Action for Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. LPRs file Form I-90, when their Green Card expires or is about to expire. The revised I-797 receipt notice, together with an applicant’s PRC, will serve as temporar...y evidence of lawful permanent resident status for 12 months from the expiration date on the face of the Green Card. This change ensures that certain LPRs with a pending Form I-90 to replace an expiring Green Card have documentation of identity, employment authorization and authorization to return to the United States following temporary foreign travel. Applicants who have already been scheduled for a biometrics appointment will not receive a revised notice and will receive an extension sticker at their biometrics appointment. Starting in January, applicants who file Form I-90 to replace an expiring Green Card will receive the revised receipt notice in the mail approximately 7-10 days after USCIS accepts their application. Applicants with expiring Green Cards will no longer receive a sticker from the Applicant Support Center (ASC) at their biometrics appointments to obtain temporary evidence of LPR status. Instead, USCIS will send applicants a revised Form I-797, Notice of Action, the receipt notice for Form I-90, as proof of the extension of their Green Card. This notice will be printed on secure paper and will serve as evidence of identity, employment authorization and authorization to return to the United States following temporary foreign travel when presented with an expired Green Card.
Note from USCIS for those to whom apply: The USCIS lockbox facilities have received a significant increase in filings in recent weeks. This increase, along with facility capacity restrictions necessary to protect the health and safety of the lockbox workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic, is causing significant delays for processing receipt notices.

I’m honored to receive this award. We’re very grateful to all of our clients! We work tirelessly to ensure that our clients get the results they’re fighting for.
Alert from USCIS: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, USCIS is experiencing delays in issuing receipt notices for some applications and petitions filed at a USCIS lockbox facility. The information below explains the current state of our lockbox operations and the issues affecting receipt notices. Current Situation... As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, an increase in filings, current postal service volume and other external factors, you may experience a delay of four to six weeks in receiving your receipt notice after properly filing an application or petition with a USCIS lockbox. These delays will not affect the receipt date which is determined pursuant to 8 C.F.R. 103.2(a)(7). Delays may vary among form types and lockbox locations. In some cases, you may experience significant delays if you filed a non-family based Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, or Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, based on eligibility categories described in 8 C.F.R. 274a.12(c)(3), relating to F-1 students.

Good news! The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a preliminary injunction to stop the Trump Administration from denying immigrant visas to 2020 diversity visa winners. In its ruling the court ordered the administration to process all 2020 applications as quickly as possible before September 30.

Today, we announced a final rule adjusting certain immigration and naturalization benefit request fees, ensuring that we recover the full costs of services. Rev...iewed every other year by law, our fees reflect the cost of administering the nation’s lawful immigration system. We’ve also adjusted the fee waiver eligibility, filing requirements for nonimmigrant workers, and our premium processing service. For online filing, the filing fee is reduced by $10 for forms that are electronically available. USCIS is required to examine incoming and outgoing expenditures and make adjustments based on that analysis, said Joseph Edlow, USCIS deputy director for policy. These overdue adjustments in fees are necessary to efficiently and fairly administer our nation’s lawful immigration system, secure the homeland and protect Americans. GOOD NEWS FOR STUDENTS! The Trump administration has agreed to rescind a directive that would have barred foreign students from the United States if their colleges canceled in-person instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic, following lawsuits by a number of universities and states, according to a Tuesday hearing.
Thank you very much Radio Philadelphia for inviting me to talk about changes in asylum process.
