The Carnegie Shul 14.11.2020

Leon Zionts passed away on Sunday. Here is an excerpt from the Carnegie Shul Chatter of November 11, 2015 following his remarkable performance at our Shul. L...eon will be sorely missed by all who knew him. May his memory be for a blessing A Night To Remember Sunday evening, November 8, truly was a night to remember at the Carnegie Shul, as some 150 people were enthralled by the incredible performance of Leon Zionts singing Broadway Classics and More. Our main sanctuary was filled to capacity with not only members of our own Shul, but with people from Beth El, Temple Emanuel, Chabad, and Beth Shalom. Even Rabbi Savage of Beth Hamedrash Hagodol- Beth Jacob Congregation, Downtown, was in attendance. Those who had previously seen Mr. Zionts perform at Stage 62, the Pittsburgh Savoyards, or Front Porch Theatricals, had an inkling of what to expect, but even they were bedazzled by his performance. The opening number, That Old Black Magic, heralded the magical evening that was to come, as Mr. Zionts took us Over the Rainbow, to the Promised Land with If I Forget Thee, O Jerusalem, Back to the Burgh, and on a quest to achieve The Impossible Dream.
