Good morning!Just wanted to remind everyone this Friday is a half a day. Dismissal is at 12:00pm. Also I would like to thank the families who have come out on Monday for our parent committee meeting. If you could not make it do not worry, just ask for our Assistant Director, Adamary Sosa and she will give you the information. Also save the date! September 28, 2012 is our very first cultural awareness day. If you perform or know anyone who performs cultural dances, songs, or ...instruments please feel free to inbox me or contact Adamary. Today is the 2nd week of school and we want to continue congratulating our little ones on a job well done. We would like to thank all of our graduating students for coming out to the 2012 Head Start prom. Every one looked so lovely on Friday. Also we would like to thank all our parents and staff who helped make this prom truly enchanted and unforgettable. Querríamos dar gracias a todos nuestros estudiantes que se gradúan para salir al 2012 baile del colegio de la Ventaja. Cada uno pareció tan bellos el viernes. También querríamos dar gracias a todos nuestros padres y proveer quién ayudó marca este baile del colegio encantó sinceramente y inolvidable.

Check Out Our MANY Services!! :-) The Family School: The Lighthouse Family School has been providing year-round quality early childhood educational services since 1972. The Lighthouse offers Head Start educational programming to over 273 families annually. The L.A.M.P. Program: The Lighthouse provides after-school programming to over 100 children annually. L.A.M.P. serves children from ages 5 to 14 years old and offers individualized tutoring, homework assistance, cultural..., sports and recreational activities from September to June. The program then offers a six week Summer Day Camp. Economic Development Program: The Lighthouse provides a range of job training and placement services to under- and unemployed members of the community. We offer work readiness training as well as resume writing and interview training. In addition to GED and ESL classes, the Lighthouse offers placement services to job seekers and employers alike. The Lighthouse also assists retail and commercial businesses with city services, government and private financing, licensing and other technical assistance. Beacon Share Program: The Lighthouse Beacon Share program operates a food pantry that distributes free groceries to over 400 needy families and senior citizens on a regular basis year round. The Beacon Share program also distributes holiday food and gift packages and organizes on-going educational workshops and special events series for seniors. In addition, the Lighthouse operates a second hand clothing swap for any member of the community. Sports and Recreation Program: The Lighthouse provides over 1,000 children annually with a full range of sports and recreational programming. Serving children from ages 4 to 21, the Lighthouse provides year-round programs in our two gymnasiums, our indoor swimming pool and the Lighthouse Fields complexa 15 acre green space with 7 baseball fields and soccer and football fields. The Lighthouse has been recognized nationally for many of its sports programming including our Soccer and Baseball programs.

The Lighthouse seeks to develop services that best respond to the needs of our families. Generations of North Philadelphia families have grown up with the Lighthouse as a constant source of support and services. Today the Lighthouse offers an array of creative programming to meet the evolving needs of our families and neighborhoods. Community Support Since its inception, the Lighthouse has relied upon the generous support of its community in order to provide services to the children and families in the Kensington and North Philadelphia neighborhoods. For over 100 years the Lighthouse has been in the community, providing services to the community, because of support from the community.
