Shared from the Ridgway Area School District - RASD COVID 19 UPDATE (01-04-2021): The District's core pandemic team met Wednesday (12/30) to review current county and zip code data, to analyze trends, and to discuss the instructional models. CURRENT DATA: Unfortunately, Elk County is high in terms of COVID 19 spread and cases. In reviewing the data for Ridgway, the positivity rate is the highest it has been for our zip code. As of 1-3-2021 the positivity rate for Ridgwa...y is 76.36%; 42/55 people tested are positive for the past 7 days. The incident rate is 664.77 per 100,000 people. The total new positives for the past 7 days is 42 cases. In addition, the hospitalizations are increasing. There is concern that the community will not see the post-holiday surge for two weeks. Our case counts will likely get worse, which puts staff and students at increased risk of exposure and congregate gatherings increase the potential for transmission. INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL IMPLEMENTATION DECISION: January 4-8 FULL REMOTE LEARNING/NO EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES January 11-15 FULL REMOTE LEARNING/NO EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES We recognize the academic, social and emotional stressors that our students are facing due to the totality of the circumstances of the pandemic. The District has a variety of supports and services available to students and families during these difficult times: school counseling resources, mental health resources, and academic support. Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s building principal or school counselor for additional information regarding these resources. Parents, please check your emails or district website for additional details at https://rasd.us/.../01/RASD-COVID-19-Update-01042021.pdf See more

RASD COVID 19 Update (01-14-2021): The following information has been emailed to parents, posted on the District website, and a global connect call will be going home as well. The RASD Core Pandemic Team met and reviewed data regarding community spread of COVID 19 and parent survey responses. The RASD will resume in-person instruction beginning January 18. For those parents who are opting to remain in full remote learning, your students will continue to learn at home throug...h Schoology. We ask that everyone is patient with each other next week as we reacclimate students to the regular classroom routines. It will also be extremely important in order to protect the health of our teachers and students AND to maintain in person instruction that everyone follows the public health and safety guidelines: wear a face covering, maintain 6ft of social distances, avoid gatherings, and wash your hands. Finally, if your child is not feeling well, you must keep the home. Stay safe Elkers! The data to make this decision and more information can be found at https://rasd.us/.../2/2021/01/Parent-Update-01-14-2021.pdf See more

Mack: 3 years old, boxer mix, neutered Male. Mack was transferred from another on 6/27/20 that was overcrowded and asked for assistance. This handsome guy loves to be the center of attention. He's super playful, goofy, and adores people. Mack really enjoys going for walks, but because he can be a bit of a puller at times we recommend walking him with a harness. He is looking for an active family and would do best in a home without any other dogs, cats, or small children. If interested in adopting Mack please contact the Elk County Humane Society at (814) 834-3247.
