The Shack

Dahhhha! I forgot to post! Hey, anyway it's Friday, maybe a little crappy Friday, but a crappy Friday is better than any good Monday. Our walk-ins werkin' so that's one more thing to check off of The Shack's bucket list... till it takes a crap again. Hey, any step forward no matter how small is still a step forward. This is what we have in the line of specials for the weekend, Fresh Mozz, cheese steak egg rolls, cheeseburger egg rolls, and meatball and Po Boy sliders. Yum-yum, now that's good vittles! I intend to make some potato salad tomorrow, but I've failed before. Alli's inside and Jarred is out back and the cabana is up and running. Two playoff games tomorrow, we'll have a ticket for the second game. We open the inside at 10:00 AM and The Back at 11:00. See ya.

Got the walk-in fixed today, we lucked out with the weather and were able to keep it to temp the entire time the compressor was down. That was the fifth piece of equipment to go down, one after the other. Hopefully we'll be OK for a while with the equipment and now we can use the cabana heater. Might put a larger table in the cabana with a few extra seats. It's only one or two more seats, but it's a big difference being able to seat a party of four rather than just a part...y of one or two. Plus, you can still seat a party of one or two if need be, the only thing, no TV! It's Thursday, and that's our sign-in day. Sign in and have one on us. I was going to put up the last week's winners today, but I'll wait till Sunday to leave a little more time for the past weeks' winners to check in. Sam is inside, Shelby is out back for the day shifts, and Shelby and Jarred have the nights. We open the inside for breakfast at 10:00 AM on Saturday and 9:00 AM on Sunday and The Back opens one hour later each day. See ya See more

It's Wednesday already, back to the middle of the week. Maybe it's everything that's going on but this week is flying by for me. Just got off from a seminar about the new 2021 PPP Loan and 2020 PPP Loan forgiveness. I gotta admit I feel a lot better after I got through it, a lot of different things to help small businesses stay afloat till they get a handle on this pandemic. Back to the biz, our compressor for the walk-in is in, has been picked up, and will be installed t...omorrow. Just in time, because they want it to warm up Friday. I don't want to tempt fate and say "at least Mother Nature was on our side through this" and then have a tornado rip through The Shack! Just saying. they made some more specials today, some fresh Mozz and some cheeseburger egg rolls. Might start making some crab roll sliders as another way to use up our crab meat while it's fresh. Taco Tuesday! What more does anyone need to say?

Well, what happened yesterday? We did our regular thing during the day, worked on the lights and installing the heater for the canopy. Had to run for materials for the heater and the cover plate for the second light for the flag. I get a kick out of these shows where they do construction projects, they always have every last part, every last type of fastener, just everything to finish a huge project. Reality is that ya don't have all the parts, every type of fastener, or... just enough material for almost any little project let alone rebuilding an entire building. Anyway after that, I drank and you know the ending to that story. While I was away, our governor made changes to the rules for the next three weeks... again, only allowing outdoor dinning and to go food and drinks. Did I mention that we have a "heated" outdoor dinning area? We're going to give it a shot to see how things work, but we will be reducing our hours. Opening at 11:00 AM Monday through Friday and 10:00 AM Saturday and Sunday, closing the kitchen at 9:00 and the bar at 10:00. Whether you eat out back our get to go food, you will be eligible for our sign-ins and our football tickets. Give you a little more buying power over the holidays! Matter of fact, we have the Thursday Night Football ticket's winner, it's Michael... something. Michael wrote his phone number which we won't post, but if you're out there Michael, you got twenty coming. Alli's on the phones, I think Kerri's out back and Shelby and Jarred are doing the nights. Hey, we're back to Monday already. We conducted a superficial hunt for our third patio heater and it is MIA as of now. Just don't quite remember where we stored it? It'll show up somewhere. Still waiting on our compressor for the walk-in, the weather has be very cooperative so far. Got Sunday's winner for our football ticket, Cara Slonalan? We can read up to "Slon" and then it gets a little tough to read, so anyway Cara, you got twenty! Things are getting back to normal after the holidays. These two holidays disrupt more than any other pair of holidays out there. Gotta get our decorations down this week. We were not able to get tops for our kitchen Saturday, maybe I'll try next week. Ya realize that tomorrow is Friday already, this week is flying by for me. Hey, ya know what I say, "Come on Summer." I don't like to wish my life away, but if these times breeze by, I ain't gonna complain. I had to get into it with Alli this morning, she said that they were making crab rangoons yesterday, so I posted that we had them. Turns out that they didn't make them yesterday. I told her that if this keeps happening, I'll lose my street cred with my peeps. She sai...d "My Bad" and then we were cool! Picked up heater today from Derek's, now gotta figure out how to support this heater from our canopy to convert it from a table heater. They're working on the lights for the flag too. We're just chugging along. It's Thursday, that means we have our sign-in for a free drink and prizes and our football ticket for tonight's game between the Patriots and the Rams. We in de middle again, it's Wednesday and we got some snow. Kinda got a new outlook on this pandemic this morning whilst I was thinking, we're on the back side of this thing. We're already into it nine months, if we can come out of these next three month, we should be on the mend. I'm talking strictly about bars and restaurants because by then, a number of Americans will have had a vaccine and we will "beheading" into the warmer weather. With additional outdoor dining tha...t the LCB allowed this year, bars and restaurants that made it through these first nine months should be able to survive. (if they can hang on through Winter) Many are gonna need another stimulus to get through these next three months. Anyway, finished installing the gutter, down spout and trough, looks cool! Gotta get our heater installed yet and then it's on to the next project. Jarred is inside and Shelby is out back. Another Taco Tuesday with all the trimmins. Six different tacos and several other tasty Mexican dishes for you and your kin. Getting a little folksy there. We have two winners on our football tickets, its the odd couple, Ricky Bobby and Kerri Ann. Ricky won last night and Kerri won Sunday night. That's twenty to each of you, you crazy kids! Got the gutter and down spout mounted to the canopy, the wiring and heater and that's it, I figured it out we'll finish this proje...ct right before we get shut down. Sounds silly, but I think that we'd lose less money being closed then being opened right now. Hey, the Germans have a saying, "What doesn't kill you will make you stronger." Unless it just leaves you in a weaken state and some lesser thing comes along and kills you! We'll see what the Gov is going to do, until then we'll keep keeping on. Kerri is inside, the same aforementioned Kerri as in the football pool, and Jarred is out back. It's Dallas and the Ravens tonight! You could "watch" it at home or you could "enjoy" it with us! Late, late, late. Had a few extra things going on today that ate up most of my time. Had my guy start wiring the lights for the new flag, gotta have the American flag lit if you keep it up all of the time. This is a little bit of a project on its own, another situation where its awkward just to get the piping in place. Had work on the canopy going on too, got the rafter cut to make room for the propane heater and started the rain gutter. Should get that up and finished t...omorrow along with the down spout and trough diverting the rain water from the canopy into the pond. Picked up roping to finish The Back, got that up and had red bows tied to the posts to add a little color. Had to pick up some materials for our lighting project too. Plus, we had our frig at home replaced because it had a water leak inside the one door, so ya gotta remove everything and then wait till 5:30 for them to come to replace it and after it cools down, put everything back into the new frig. Funny thing we got a water leak with the new frig, not in the door but at the water hookup. Can't win. The football ticket is for the 49ers and the Bills. We got another game tomorrow, so stop in for Taco Tuesday and take a shot on the Dallas/Ravens game. See ya. See more
