These foot locker trunks made countless trips across the Atlantic Ocean from early 1950’s to 1989. Sometimes they accompanied us as our baggage, other times they were our Air Freight that was sent ahead or followed us on our international journeys. And actually, The bottom trunk in this picture actually is older and made it to Liberia sometime after 1953. For example, circa summer 1969 when we were home on leave, mom (Lois) had to buy our Christmas presents that summer to s...end back for us to have in December. When raising a family back-and-forth between two continents you had to plan six months to a year in advance. Needless to say, this was in a days before good old Amazon. Labels remaining on the trunks today include the TWA sticker with name address and phone number. Alitalia Airlines freight sticker (Italy) Swiss Air freight sticker. Allegheny Airlines freight sticker. For those who don’t know, Allegheny Airlines was a regional airline in Pennsylvania which later turned into US airways as it grew in size. The sticker for Allegheny Airlines on this trunk shows that it went to Pittsburgh and from there flew to Harrisburg. Most likely this was a sticker when freight was being sent home from Africa that once it entered the United States it first to Pittsburgh and then to Harrisburg which is the airport we typically would depart from and return to. Bruce David, circa 1965, is when our Dad bought this 1958 Cadillac. The Kids were enamored with the car because it actually had carpet on the floor in back. . Also love the view of the wooden silo in this picture and the 20 x 60 before the roof. This appears to have been taken the same day as the picture of Bruce on the John Deere 70 in front of the machine shed.

Bruce David in his happy place, on the farm on the John Deere 70, circa 1965. This is before the exterior of the machine shed was renovated with new doors and painted.

Finally found a good picture of the lane down to the river with the curve, before it was straightened out. Must have been a good reason there was there curve in the road like there use to be a tree there or a building, but have never known why. This picture is circa 1967. Also note the Milk House and Pig Pen on the right. We always enjoyed playing in the lofts of the Pig Pen and of course, getting a drink of fresh cold water from the floor hydrant in the Milk House.
