If you are posting about politics on social media, planting political yard signs in front of your homes and going door to door throughout your neighborhoods enc...ouraging your community to get registered and vote then I want to invite you to ALSO post on social media about Jesus Christ and the fruits of your relationship with Him. I want to encourage you post on social media apologetics defending the teachings of Jesus Christ regarding His true presence in the Eucharist, the forgiveness of sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Salvific nature of Christian Baptism. I want to invite you to post signs in front of your homes inviting your neighbors to follow Jesus and learn more about the Church He founded 2000 years ago. I want to encourage you to go door to door throughout your community and invite your neighbors to get registered at your local parish and get plugged into RCIA, small group discipleship Bible studies, Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, service initiatives devoted to the poorest of the poor and most importantly worship at the holy sacrifice of the Mass. While it is a good thing to be concerned with the temporal, it is an even greater good to be concerned with eternal salvation. If we want to have the mind of Christ when it comes to the morality of our nation then we need to invite our nation to abide in a relationship with Christ through worship at the Mass, prayer, study, fellowship and service to the poorest of the poor and most vulnerable among us in our community. This past Thursday I had the honor of concelebrating the Funeral Mass of this young lady - Maria Middleton. Maria was only 18 when she passed, having suffered w...ith a brain tumor for almost two years. Maria is a Saint. She didn’t do it her way, as Sinatra once sang. Instead, she did it in a way that pleased Jesus - loving Him in the Eucharist and offering her suffering for sinners like me. Here is a picture of Maria from last October. She made a mission trip to Uganda and was loved by all those she served! Please pray for Maria’s parents- Brian and Susan. May they continue to be comforted by our prayers and blessed by God’s grace.
